Paying 2 insurance companies for the same cover

Options
I;ve just found out that since 2013 I've been paying 2 premiums for life and critical illness cover (one for me one for my husband) to both Legal & General AND Scottish widows for around £80 to each company.

I spoke with Legal & General and they advised me that their policy is to refund if I can prove i accidentally paid both companies. The problem is that thats the better policy and I can't find Scittish widows policy or small print as to whether they would do the same and refund me.

I'm also wondering if they would refund me for 4 years?!

Any advice really appreciated, thanks :j:)

That is very generous of them and not the normal scenario unless it was sold by one of their own reps.

Ask SW for a policy details summary to be posted.

Who knows. The usual thing is to not refund as there is no overlap and you can have as many as you like. I would not have expected L&G to pay anything back. However, that is their choice. I would not expect SW to do it either unless it was one of their reps and there was a wrongdoing. However, you wont know unless you ask them.
