Indigo are trying trashy Hospital claims in Wales, but they are being well defended. Well, some are.

  • Hi Everyone regarding my previous post concerning Indigo Parking. we have now received a letter from Wright Hassall Solicitors requesting payment of £171 within next 14 days (dated 17/7/17). We don't want our son to get an CCJ against him as he is just starting out as a Doctor and they take these things seriously.
Can anyone suggest what to do? if they keep sending us letters will the costs keep escalating or should we just leave it and hope they don't take us to court?
We have told our son we will sort it but am becoming increasingly alarmed. Especially in view of the ruling last week against the staff at Cardiff Hospital and Indigo. Should we still ignore??

Getting a ccj against you has no impact on your job etc unless you ignore it or don't pay it in full within a month of getting the judgement against you.

If this is a letter before court action it needs taking notice of, but ignore it if it's a scary try on to frighten you into paying

Who does Wright Hassall tell you to pay and what's the address they used? It's more likely to be a debt collector pretending to be Wright Hassall.

Worst you're looking at if you don't pay this now, is that you'll need to pay that before the CCJ hits your credit record. Defend it properly and not only will your son not have to pay the parking company anything, he may be able to claim some money from them.

The letter does appear to be from Wright Hassall Solicitors - has their Leamington Spa address on and Tim Hawker (!!) is the signature, the Head of Debt Recovery Operations, apparently... but I've looked on WHS website and can't find his name in their list of staff.
Says "Failure to make payment in full or contact us to discuss repayment of this debt may result in us recommending to our client to pass the matter over to our Litigation Department. This may mean they will look to obtain a CCJ. ....."
The initial recovery amount required from ZZZP was for £136 now WHS says outstanding balance is £171, can they keep demanding more?

When you searched the forum for 'Hawker Wright Hassall' (because the forum is here for searching and everything has already been said, discussed and done six hundred times this year alone by other posters before you) you will have found Johnersh's suggested reply.

Is it normal practice when a cheque is "stopped", for the bank to let the drawer know it was presented ?
Should the OP tell Indigo Parking that if the cheque ever turns up, they should not try to cash it, but without telling them it's been stopped ? If Indigo Parking say they didn't receive it, and then they try to cash it ; their demand for a £70 administration fee was fraud.

If a cheque is stopped and the recipient tries to pay it in, it will bounce back to the recipient marked 'payment stopped' or maybe 'refer to drawer' but I don't know that a Bank would necessarily write to the drawer to tell them.
