I've never tried it, but I wonder if comparison sites let you enter 0kwh for your annual usage? If so, they should return results ordered according to standing charge only. If they wont accept 0kwh then enter as small a number as they'll allow.

Most don't, but do allow you to enter 1kWh pa consumption.

But use your own figures. If you really have zero consumption, then the price will obviously be the same for all suppliers that have zero standing charge. i.e. nothing
  • Thanks for all comments, I'll put some work in this afternoon and see what I come up with.
  • Quick update. Thanks for all replies and comments, all came in useful, especially the suggestion to try separate quotes for gas and electric. I used MSE CEC.
Eon had the best tariff for my electric, Solarplicity, with no standing/service charge was cheapest for gas, but I had to go through their own web site, which wouldn't allow me to only select gas. EBIco was only slightly more expensive, so I switched to them. Again a slight problem as the direct debit has to start at £10 a month, whereas I won't be incurring any charges for six months, but apparently I can reduce the direct debit once it is set up.
    Thanks again everyone.

My Ebico direct debit amount is 75p per month so don't worry about that - they will definitely allow you to change it.

I think you are going about this the wrong way!

As long as you know your annual usage and it isn't likely to change massively you put that into a comparison site and it tells you what is cheapest FOR YOU!

usually low standing charge means high tariff. (good for low users)

    Look at SSE.
