Kwik-fit - I know, but give me a chance here - offer the same service. I used them once, a few years ago, and to be fair they were as good as their word/advertising0 -

+1
I took a car to them a while ago. They couldnt get the temp lower because there was a leak so they didnt charge me but were able to spot where the leak was.
I took the car away, bought the £6 joint that had cracked, fitted it took it back, regassed successfully, and paid them for a job well done. :beer:0 -
If you find this necessary then i think your A/C isn't working as efficiently as it should.
Even in this hot weather i can get in my car, start the engine and the climate control will get the car to a comfortable temperature easily in 1 - 2 minutes without messing about changing the fan and opening the windows.
The key to keeping A/C in a good usable condition is to use it all year round. My car has it on by default and you have to go into the climate control menu to turn it off, so it's left on all year. It's 10 years old and is as cold any new car i have driven.
I don't find it 'necessary'. The A/C works very efficiently and will chill the inside of the car quite quickly. I am just giving it a helping hand by getting rid of most of the hot air out of the windows rather than asking the A/C to chill the hot air.
I don't find it onerous to open and close the electric windows or turn the fan knob. If my wife is in the passenger seat, as she often is, I get her to manage the A/C and windows and vice versa if she is driving.
But each to their own. If your way suits you and others best then there is no reason to change it. Any efficiency or cost difference will be fairly marginal.0 -

Why digital?0 -
With the air-con in it slugs the engine power; like driving through a patch of treacle; I have to turn it off if I want to overtake something lol!0

It was 28 degrees outside on Monday, i set the climate to LOW and it started to chuck out lovely cold air.
It didnt take long for the temperature to drop so low that i was shivvering
Mental note, don't set it to low unless wearing a coat. No matter how hot it is outside.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Very few compressors pull more than about 5-10bhp. It must be VERY underpowered for that to be an issue.0 -

Do you think analogue a better bet?0 -

I don't really understand why you are doing it if the A/C is working at full efficiency. If it's extra hot like it is recently I will turn the car on and leave the door open for 20 seconds until it starts cooling before I go.
Although I do have climate control in my car so that deals with controlling the outside and I side vents and fan speed automatically. So if I wanted to do it your way I would have to go into the climate control menu and turn off A/C and auto mode then adjust the vent controls in the menu and then adjust the fan with the knob. So it really would be a faff!0
