Can anyone recommend a decent steam iron please at a reasonable price.
This is the one household appliance that I seem to have to keep re-buying far too frequently.
Haven't got a big budget.
Saw a thread bout this but it was 7 years old.
Thanks in advance😊

For years I had Tefal Ultraglide irons thinking they were the best. And then I got a Philips. Miles better!
It has a shorter cable than the Tefal but you can easily add an extension lead.
This is the one I have:
Philips Azur Plus Performer GC4526/87

I've got Philips Azur Performer GC3811

Edit: I don't know the exact difference between difference model within Philips Azur Performer range, but Argos and Currys has one for around £400 -
If budget allows consider a steam generator, Aldi had some for about £60.0

GO for a steam generator.
whatever you get
If in hard water area do not use tap water even if they say it's OK.0 -
I would highly recomend steam generator Irons. I have a Tefal one - not exactly cheap to purchase but well worth it because it lasts for ages.0

Steam generators are great, but ours broke last week after 4 yrs use. We used softened and filtered water from a tap for it, and also descaled it regularly, but still not enough to stop problems. Distilled water is reallly expensive, so am currently looking at options myself!0

I second a steam generator. I've had a philips one for a good 10 years and it's still going strong. We have very hard water and although I've got a water softener I don't put softened water in it as I think it would make it corrode. I use the filtered water from our brita filter. Never had any problems with it and I wouldn't be without a generator now, it halves the time it takes to iron things.0

If u do a lot of ironing steam generator is very good. If normal steam iron is what you prefer I second Philips azur irons. Miles ahead of other similar ones.0
