I've only scanned through it, but what strikes me is that your neighbours have found the process far smoother than yourself. There's no doubting that the builders have messed up, but I'm not convinced you're being entirely reasonable either. Could there be communication issues on both sides, do you have a tenancy support officer that could help you with this?

Oh and £170 for a toilet seat. What the ...

How can I possibly be being unreasonable? You have obviously not looked at the photos or grasped what's going on... it's not me that made this awful mess and destroyed not one but two kitchens.. It was this team of workers. It was not me that damaged my own property.. it was them.. do you think they would rip out two whole kitchens merely at my request?

    Do you work for them?

The one question that ensures not too many more people will bother posting to give help or advice.
Just because someone doesn't agree 100% with what you posted doesn't mean that they must work for the company concerned.

I struggled to get past the expensive toilet seat and light dongle heirloom!

Agree that there some of the work is markedly below what is acceptable, but:

    1) There is clearly a mismatch in expectations regarding the quality of work that should be delivered. You seem to be after perfection, whereas I suspect the amount being paid to the company by the council (NOT you, I assume) is sufficient for a reasonable job.

    2) The number of emails/ photographs suggests an attempt to micro-manage the project which inevitably makes things difficult for the workmen.

    Kind regards,
    Mr Masher :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The person who assaulted you was arrested and charged?
  • Looks like a nice kitchen.

Appreciate there are a few snags, the same with many projects. Maybe if it doesnt meet your standards consider picking your own contractor next time.

Would the OP have a choice? Did they pay for the kitchen

I agree at casual glance from a distance things don't look too bad.

But we have discovered there is a reason why they only do the final 'quality control' and attempt a customer 'sign off' at a distance. Not one of these individuals where the final responsibility for the quality of these 'Home Improvement' projects rests ever shows up with either a tape measure or spirit level and neither do they get up close or crouch down or bother to even open any units or test draws.

It's their job and professional responsibility to look for and highlight any errors, faults, mistakes, bad workmanship or out right !!!! ups. Instead they merely ask: 'are you happy' and hope you are so they can get shot of you.

To their visible discomfort I produced and tape measure and level and began to do their job for them.

Please have a look and read of and then tell me about a 'few snags'.

I knew these builders in my home would be the death of me.. literally.
After 71 days now and the kitchen is still a total mess, the extraordinary stress I have been put under finally hit max.

Yesterday morning I was admitted to Accident and Emergency and after 10 hours of extensive tests, blood, ECG, CT Scan, nerve conduction etc I was diagnosed with a stress induced stroke.

I wonder if I actually have to die before anyone will take this seriously..
  • Cor blimey, take a look at my lav, and I cant blame the council. It is going to be another week before I get the job finished, but at the moment I am just thankful we have a hedge!
