Flight Connection Question

Hi
Going to Orlando in April. Looking at flights.
We are from the North East but in London for an event the day before we plan to fly.
Ive looked at flights from Gatwick to Orlando.
I can get the same flights but starting and ending at Edinburgh for a lot cheaper. The flight in Gatwick is the connecting flight from Edinburgh.
Is there an issue booking from Ed, but getting on at Gatwick. Then on the return I would just travel back to Ed whcih is much closer to home.
Anyone doen this before?
Cheers

As you say, your ticket will be cancelled if you miss one of your flights. Have you looked at booking your flight with a stop-over in London? Depending on when you're looking to fly to London you may even be able to book it with a long connection time.0
