Just in case anyone is wondering I transferred 1p from my Barclays to Fineco and back and didn't receive a charge.

On Friday I transferred in £1000 to my Fineco, on Saturday it showed and I transferred it back out to my Barclays account and received a £6 charge.

On the information section it does state a CHAPS payment in GBP. There T&C's state there is a £6 payment for 'Receiving currency or international payments (outside SEPA)' - but carrying out a quick google search it seems that Italy is within SEPA, and that doesn't explain why I didn't get a charge for the 1p.

Been on the phone to them for one hour and I am still discussing it. He advises that Barclays didn't charge me (as they don't charge for incoming payments) but their T&C's above state they do (but not in this situation). He is trying to blame Fineco, yet Fineco would issue the charge (transfer £996 not £1000). Its a bit of a mess. If I knew they would charge me I would have sent to my Santander account who I know do not charge

Some banks (eg FD) don't charge (or charge a reduced amount) for international transfers in amounts below a certain level such less than £100. This may have been why there was no charge on the 1p.

Not that it helps you now but, however, if you'd searched this thread you would have spotted that others have mentioned that Barclays charge for incoming international transfers.

By the way I got caught by a £6 charge from FD when I did it hence why I became aware of the differential charges, so I feel your pain. I managed to console myself with the £200 we made though :)

If you want to be sure you don't get charged any transfer fees, withdraw the £1,000 in cash at a UK ATM and pay the cash into your other bank account(s). Unless you changed it to something lower, you have a £4K limit on the card, so you can withdraw the lot in one go.

Having said this, you need the GBP debit card for this, and there's a question mark over whether you get charged £3 for the delivery of the card. Some people say they got charged, others say they didn't. I had my card delivered mid April and have as yet not been charged anything for it. I have, however, left a few pounds in my account, just in case, as I don't fancy going overdrawn.

Barclays refunded me the £6, he agreed I shouldn't have been charged.

I contacted Fineco yesterday regarding when I would be paid and recieved the following response:

regarding your request, we inform you that you have met all conditions of the promotion.

We kindly specify you that a pop-up will be shown from 09/07/2019 in the Customer Area, but only to those who have met all the conditions.

The acceptance of the pop-up must occur by 06/08/2019.

The bonus will be paid within 8 working days from the acceptance of the pop-up.

does everyone read that the same as me, that I will receive a message/pop up anytime from the 9th July and have until the 8th August to accept it, then the £100 will be paid 8 days after I accept?

should I be able to login straight away or is there now a waiting period?

I'm past the point of uploading ID and account details have been provided but I don't seem to have a "user ID" or "activation code".

my last text is the one with the "OTP digital signature" code, my last email is "thank you for signing the contract" and a note saying "We will open your account and send you by email and text the codes to access the client area for the first time".

also, does it matter if the £1000.00 deposit is one amount or can it be multiple deposits?

    thank you.

It takes a few [working] days before you get all your login information

I deposited £1,000 in one go, after I had received my debit card. Then withdrew the lot in one go at a UK ATM, free of charge. Note they don't do Faster Payments so it takes a while to get your money in, and I hope you've seen the warnings about potential charges to get your money out electronically.

For my DW the text never arrived despite them claiming they had sent and the resent it. In the end I had to use a different sim as there seemed to be some problem with the texts reaching sky mobile.

Can't remember what the timescales were I'm afraid.

Elsewhere people have stated that live chat have told them the 1k can be in multiple transactions but personally I avoid any unnecessary risks if I can.
    I think....

    thanks guys.

the signup was simple enough and codes turned up today via email and text to access the account. so I'm all set up.

on my email today I got:
In order to unlock all services of your Fineco account, you will need to insert the eight central digit numbers of your debit card. If you have not applied for a card, please enter the security code that will be sent to your temporary address by regular mail.

    "temporary address"?

now I am 100% certain I ordered a "free" GBP card during the signup, but my account now says I don't have a card and that I can order one for a £2.95 fee. should I just wait and one will arrive as per the sign up?

    thanks again.

edit: I've just read colstens extensive post a few pages back and everything since, thank you for that.

I see the £2.95 is still not definitive but it still leaves me wondering if the card is already ordered or if I have to order again? does the cards PIN arrive by snail too?

    thank you.

I may have answered my own Q. I tried clicking on the "request a card" button and it simply asks me for the middle 8 digits of my card for confirmation I have received it.
so all I can do is wait and see if it and a card PIN arrives.

Debit card must be activated first in order to get a PIN.
Fineco sends PIN to the mobile number via text message.

I don't actually know my User ID and password. Do you know where to find this?
