Boiler problem

Hi

Firstly, of course I will get a corgi engineer in to do any work , but would like some guidance to help in my decision / to compare with engineer view

---

Just moved into new house ( well 40 yrs old, but you get the picture).., its got an extension.

Main house including upstairs part of extension is run off a Vokera plus AG combi, the ground floor extension has a Vokera Compact 24- heating office hours only/ hW to downstairs cloakroom only ( belive both likely 4 yrs old) Note we also have a faily large range cooker.

The main boiler has started "locking out" sometimes ( not always) ... seems to be when Heating is on, and you use hot water
First time it did that I was using the cooker as well ( so wondered if gas pressure).. but now doing it when having my shower ( no one esle just me! )- even if no otrher HW being run at time

Can only see short part of gas pipe.. but what I can see is 15mm

Was told be previous owners regularly serviced, but now I've had docs thro' from solicitors , nothing there .. ( they left some paperwork.. but the installation log is blank)

My thoughts..

1. get them both serviced / repair as neccessary ( any thoughts what it might be / likely cost )

2. Replace main with a new bolier ( as existing is class D )

3. Get a new bigger/ more effiecent one fitted and have pipework changed so it covers the whole house on one system

any thoughts
edit..

just had 4 burners on cooker, both boiler giving heat and HW and the buggar works , it must know when I'm having a shower

    Hi

I would get the boilers serviced and the lockout problem solved (it would be ideal to get the thing to lockout when the engineer is there but as you know......it won't!!!) If you feel the cost is reasonable then go for it. During the service the gas rate can be checked and you will then know if it's under gassed.(I would have thought £100 for two boilers plus whatever the lockout problem is)
This will give you a breathing space to decide what you want long term.

I would suggest one good size combi say 40kw this will heat a large area and give good hot water supply( provided you have the mains water pressure. and not a big hot water demand.)
If you have too large a demand for instant hot water then you are looking at unvented stored hot or a stored combi.
