Advice needed - ebay buyer making a good offer

Hi there
I've got an item listed on ebay which, judging by closed listings, usually goes for between £25-£30. There are 5 days left to go and so far, no bids.
I've now received an email asking "would I sell this for £45 delivered?" The buyer has 437 feedbacks, at 99.8% positive.
I'd like to accept but know this is against ebay rules - how serious a crime is it? And are there any dangers I have not thought of?

Hi Seaxwyn...I also sell things on ebay and when we had our camper on I got asked if they could buy it now loads of times even when it had bids on. It is against the rules but I know people do it. I couldn't I'd just be so worried after, that ebay would close our account or something like that. I suppose you have to ask yourself if you'd rather let the auction run and have peace of mind or the extra money.
It's a tough one though. Good luck whatever you decide x
p.s Just thought if there is a problem you couldn't go through ebay to sort it out for you. xOfficial DFW Nerd Club Member no:219In the Court Of The Crimson KingI don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.Gary Larson0 -
As you have no bids you can add a BIN for the price, but remember to remove the quoted p and p so that the BIN price + postage equals the £45 offered.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Have things changed then or am I mis-understanding the Ebay help:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/edit_listing.html
Where is says:
You can’t change the listing format once you’ve listed an item. For example, you can’t add "Buy It Now" to an active auction.0 -

They might have changed it of course..another customer improvement  however I believe the term 'active auction' means one that has a bid. It is probably still worth a try as I added a BIN to something in the last month so it was still possible then.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. just a quick not, PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS? I accepted a buyer's offer and only after the sale went through, well i thought it did, did he slip in that he wanted it to go to his grandson in nigeria, he had good feedback as well, i was suspicous so i contacted ebay but they did not get back to me, anyway i got email from this guy asking me to request the money from paypal which i done, and low and behold the emails were fake, i sent the phone, and i know how stupid i am, but thank god i got the phone back as it was in the sorting office, with the help from my friendly postman. This nguy was emailing me for weeks, pestering me, i emailed him and told him i had got in touch with the nigerian police which i did, i emailed them but they never got back to me. Also the address was for nurses housing in nigeria, just beware, please when they are asking you to do this i think it's dodgy, so have your wits about you, all the best0

It's your property, you can sell it to whoever you choose.
Just end the auction and take the £45.
And if you're concerned about the buyer in any way, ask for a non reversible payment such as a cheque or a postal order.0 -
can they not place a bid(totalling £45 inc P&P) an d you end the auction accepting the highest bid as it stands? been a while since ive listed and loads have changed0

Oh God, not again Dave - stop giving out duff info.
Non-reversible means bank transfer ONLY.
OP add a BIN, simple as that. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
I had someone make an offer on something I was selling - I told him I'd end the listing as soon as I received his bank transfer payment. (I said it in a nice way!)
He didn't go for that idea, sadly
