Living Social refund for vouchers not working

Hi forum,
Hoping for some advice on this. I'll try to keep it brief.
I bought 2x LivingSocial vouchers. Each was for a print canvas (approx £10 each voucher).
The voucher code did not work on the canvas company website (which I will refer to as the Merchant) - I tried to contact the merchant by email, phone etc. No response. I contacted LivingSocial who got in contact with the Merchant. No response, so LivingSocial gave me my money back in the form of LivingSocial credit.
I used this credit to purchase 2x vouchers for an activity.
When going to the activity providers website the voucher code did not work. I went back to the voucher and it had a link to use it. So I chose this link which they called 'redeeming'. After a lengthly form filling process which involved providing much personal information that I wasn't that comfortable with (Name, Address, DOB etc.), the voucher was now stated as 'redeemed'.
Which in practical terms meant that, on my LivingSocial account the voucher was labelled as 'redeemed' - however the code remained the same and in effect, nothing had changed. I still tried to use the code in the activity providers website again and it did not work. I did not redeem the second voucher.
In effect this has been my two consecutive instances of voucher codes not working from LivingSocial.
I contacted their customer service explaining the situation and also asking:
- why did I have to redeem the voucher and provide so much personal information and what will be done with that information?
- can I just have a refund please given all this hassle
Their first response was that:
"As it has been more than 30 days since you received your voucher, I can arrange a credit to your Living Social account for 50% of the voucher cost £4.98. This credit, which can be used to purchase other deals on our site, will be valid until 05/08/17."
I responded stating that I still wanted my other questions answered:
"All the vouchers purchased on our site have to be redeemed. You have redeemed 1 voucher do you not want to use this voucher or not? Our terms and conditions are there for customers to read when they sign up with us."
I've had further emails but no real clear answer to my questions. They have given me some of the original cost back in LivingSocial credit (which I don't want).
Ultimately, I feel that the product they sold me was not fit for purpose - i.e. the voucher code did not work. I did not accept livingsocial credit - they just gave it to me.
My account currently stands at £14.93 in LivingSocial credit. Why its not the full amount I do not know and I'm basically fed up with it all. I've spent hours now writing emails to them. They haven't even responded to my last email (26th May)
The help I was hoping to get from this forum is - With these voucher websites (Groupon, LivingSocial, Itison), is there any entitlement to a refund beyond the 7/14 days where the product (the voucher) does not actually function.
If anyone could advise it would be very much appreciated.
I'm starting to think that I should just spend the £14.93 and just ask them to delete my account and all my details. And of course, never use them again.
