Telephone? line outside of house

Hi,
I am sure my thread title doesnt explain anything.
In the front of our house, there is a cable going into the house, shielded by a plastic pipe and a cover (cable guard?).
There is quite a gap between the pipe and the cover, which means the cable doesnt seem very protected.

Is this how it should be? should i fix it?
Thanks,
Mike

I cant see your pictures (might be to do with being a new user restriction?) but my telephone cable just runs through the wall without any real protection - just a kind of grommet.
However, my cable is not in a high traffic area and not on a main street so your situation might be different.0 -
This is the type of thing I have on my wall for the phone cable.

I cant see the photos either, the phone cable here is run along the wall into the entry hole.
Use something like flickr, photobucket or an imgur to upload the photos.0 -

Ah I see what you mean now, not seen that before, Ive only ever seen it as I described earlier so cant say if it should be like that.
Im sure you could do something to cover the gap.0 -
As long as its not an issue if I cover it up, I will do0

Leave it to your phone provider to seal up. If you do anything to the cable you will be billed for the repair.Never Knowingly Understood.
