Looking for a cheap PAYG handset with a camera (nothing major fancy) that is preferably on o2. I dont want on 02 sim that you have toi top up every month to get X amount of minutes/calls - i want a bog standard old skool PAYG where you top up when you need to.

I dont want much do I?? :rotfl:its for my dad for xmas - he has got a brick and wants updating a bit!! Willing to pay up to £100 for a newie phone for him but just dont know wheres the best place to look for these deals (my phones have been hand me downs for the last 9 years!)

any ideas guys? :T

  • How about a Sony Ericsson K750i? (it comes with an excellent 2megapixel camera) for £50 from Argos;

    If the Vodafone PAYG contract isn't what you're looking for, then unlocking the phone would cost £10-£15, and possibly a Tesco Mobile PAYG(I think they run on O2) would fit the bill? The Value tariff is 5p per text message, 15p per minute xnet(starts at 8p), 180 day credit limit(i.e.- if your Dad's not a heavy user, then he won't lose the credit).

    I hope that gives you at least one option :)

    That sounds like a good deal - he is definatley not a heavy user but loves gadgets and Im sure he would use £10 in 6months. Thanks for that I will take a closer look!

    I believe that these phones suffer from cracking screens.

    As well as the SE K750i, have a look at the Samsung D900i from Great Universal. It's £99, you get a £30 discount if you are a new customer.

    They will do a credit check in order to open a new account for this price though. :A

    They are 99% going to be locked to whichever network that they are supplied on, they are PAYG.

    They offer most phones they supply on all networks, the price difference can be huge network to network.

    feel free to ask more questions, if I can't answer straight away, someone else will. :A

    The RAZR's are no-where near as good as the Sony K750i. In terms of quality , features & value for money I would take the K750i (or maybe W810i) every time.

    I was just wondering if you realise that you don't have to top up with the £10 (or whatever amount) EVERY month. I only top up with £10 every 3 months or so. I'm also on O2.

    I get 300 free texts for a month from the day I top up then, at the end of the first month I start to use the actual £10 of credit that I topped up with. Maybe I text a lot less than most people or maybe I don't have many friends!
    I only top up again when my balance is nearing zero, then I get the free texts again and it starts all over again.

    I bought my mum a bog standard Nokia 1110 and she couldn't get on with it, did some research and bought her a Motorola W375, no flashy stuff but works well I now get no accidental calls from her as it's a clamshell type phone and she can use the functions more easily because fo the on screen display.
