I thought all the talk after the GFC was about the need to diversify away from banking?

See HSBC is ringfencing it's UK operations and created a Joint Venture in China to create an investment bank. The first overseas bank allowed to. Certainly seems to be looking East.

The Naim MUSO is manufactured in China that I do know. Do you own any Naim or Rega kit? Our Hi FI system is built entirely on NAIM products.

Yes, I own both. I wish there were more like us tbh.

I value and respect not just quality product, but the ethos that a company tries to develop and promote.

A spokesman for Rega managed to source a major part for one of it's product that a guy bought second hand, despite that product being 14 years out of production....and they charged him just the production price of the item.

Can you imagine Apple responding to my request for a new button key for the iPhone 2?

HSBC - The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

It's listed in HK as well as London. If it starts looking east, it will end up in the USA. It's also been banging on since the GFC about leaving the UK.

Absolutely agreed, and that as an owner of Sugden/Linn/Spendor. ;)

When I had a minor issue with my (then) new Sugden amp the service which I received can only be described as exemplary.
Yet when a problem was reported with a brand new Samsung product of around £1k value Samsung themselves (who sold me the product BTW) took more than a little "persuasion" shall we say to remedy the fault. In fact the poor service received resulted in a refund and the eventual purchase of an alternative brand; sadly there was no longer any UK-made equivalent of that product.

Just for interest, Marshall amplifiers - those so beloved of musicians who often plug their guitars/keyboards etc. into one?
A few cheaper-range ones are of far-east manufacture but all the rest are UK made. ;)

    https://order-order.com/2017/07/31/youve-confused-jeremys-shadow-ministers-free-movement-car-crash/#disqus_thread

    This sums up several things:

    1. Labour's utter confusion on every aspect of Brexit.
    2. The current Labour front-bench's monumental stupidity.
    3. And likewise it's collossal dishonesty.

To summarise: the Labour MP is given a quote from Corbyn saying freedom of movement must end. She (apparently) thinks it's a quote from a Tory & repeatedly says it'll "make things much worse". When it's pointed out she's just criticised her Leader's position she backtracks desperately, and when asked to comment again on the SAME QUOTE, refuses point blank to criticize it but instead says it's "a conversation and a debate".

Sums them up perfectly. Their position on everything the Tories say or do is to criticize without thought. Their position on everything Corbyn says is to fawn around him in the hope they won't get the boot in his next reshuffle.

Incompetent, sly & unable to answer a question.

    Oh dear Jeremy Corbyn.

OTOH, when I had a problem with my Cyrus CD player, the service was simply dreadful. 'Yes, sir, we can fix your problem just like last time. This time it will cost you £278 but the good news is that we'll guarantee the repair for three months'

It looks like reports of Hammond's supposed stance since TM's holiday are being rebuffed; firstly with the UK's position on EU freedom of movement being confirmed to end in March 2019 and secondly with any transition deal:

My response would have been along the lines of: "Three months? :rotfl: Ah well, it looks like now is as good a time to upgrade as any then - but it won't be with another Cyrus."
    Roksan perhaps? ;)
I must admit that as a personal opinion only I found Cyrus transports to be somehow old-fashioned-looking; it would appear from your experience that their aftersales certainly appears to be a relic of the past.

And the relevance to the UK fishing industry's conundrum of overwhelmingly voting for Brexit while hoping they keep border- and tariff-free access to the Single Market is.....?

Are you on the tipple again?
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

It is just as relevant as your post.

Or maybe then you think that instead the EU will buy their fish from further afield - although conversely you seem to think that for the UK to do similar as with future trade is somehow not good.
    Go figure.
