How much ram does a Mac mini have/ how much ram does the cheapest iMac have?

Howdy!
I have a 10 year old Mac mini , which I will keep for old stuff .its obviously very slow and I managed to update it as far as snow leopard .(wow!)
However, the time has come to get with the times and find something that has enough ram on it , as well as enough hard drive space.
I understand the hard drive side of things, and even the external hard drives etc. However , I want to be able to run music applications without any sluggishness whatsoever .
I have iPads and iPhone etc. But want something that will let me add one or two things over time without the beach ball of death appearing etc. So it's the ram I'm worried about . Apple don't seem to list it like they used to, or it's me not seeing it .
I have Apple wireless keyboard and mouse. I have an old monitor which does not have hdmi , which is why I mentioned iMac .

There are new 21 inch iMacs out in the last week, so now is a good time to buy.

Unfortunately Apple appear to have abandoned the mini, a new one cant be recommended as its still years old technically speaking. I also believe (only skimmed the announcements) that the new 21 inch lets you upgrade memory rather than have to take Apples, which previously was only possible on the 27. A few years ago I bought a 27inch and upgraded the memory myself.

You should be able verify that self-upgrade somewhere like macforums.

EDIT: You cant upgrade it (well, you can but not without serious dissasembly unlike the 27 inch where you can simply open up a panel).

I understand now . Apparently , if I get the memory 8gb or above, then all should be fine and dandy . That's the thing with Apple, you always hang on for ' annoncements' as to what they're gonna do next.
Yes, I've heard rumours about Mac mini being discontinued .
It wouldn't surprise me if all computers go touch screen like iPads.
The good thing about my old Mac mini , is that it has a CD/ DVD player built in . Handy for the old stuff .i
I think the way forward though is to start buying music concerts on iTunes / downloads.
Anyway , I'm rambling now, but you've answered my question .
I will buy a new iMac

Another use for your old Mac mini is they make nice dedicated music players because apparently they're well electrically-screened and don't put a lot of noise on the music signal.

For an extra £180 I get upgraded 16 gb from 8gb

Yes , I think so. It makes the memory 16 instead of 8 . Not cheap

The last Mac Mini with user accessible RAM was released in 2012.

I had the late 2014 model and the RAM was soldered and you had to upgrade via the online store.
