Keep giving yourself little rewards after every 40 mins - and break things up into small chunks.

Try telling yourself that once you have proved that you understand the stuff that seems irrelevant - then you will not have to encounter it again - while if you leave it then you will have to do it all over again!!!

That is very true. Wise words :p

I'll bear that in mind tomorrow when I get back to revision. What course are you doing?

LOL I would do n e thing to go back and be a student again- stress free lifestyle etc etc :D

What I used to do was set myself a time limit of 45 mins and then my alarm clock would go off, I'd then have a break for 10 mins and do something I enjoyed -like listen to music, watch a bit of TV, have a bite to it.
One thing I did notice was that I studied better if where I was was tidy and organised and not a tip!

I also found I worked better in the mornings than say later afternoon or evenings- I tried to do between 2-3 hours revision a day- AVOID RED BULL THOUGH!! It will catch up with you l8r -Good luck with it :T

My exams start next week and so far I have done very little revision for them. I just can't get motivated enough to do them! :(

Every time I try I just find myself bored and wander off to do something else.

Anyone got any ideas on how to get myself motivated to do some heavy revising??

ill tell you what will motivate u... basically if you dont get on with it youll fail, all your time and effort will be wasted and you will kick yourself for the rest of your life...

so come on..... few weeks of revising is worth a lifetime of reapin the rewards...

I have the exact same problem.

I sailed into uni without never having studied in my life - just lucky I guess. So I had to teach myself how to get into the groove.

I first of all clean my room so it sparkles and get all the niggly things out of the way, because they'll only eat at you e.g. check you e-mails, replys to letters, pay bills, phone granny etc etc.

Then I sort out all notes and print off past papers and example questions one subject at a time.

Then write a list of everything that needs done and plan your timescale.

This is where I lose my motivation!

To keep motivated whilst I study I set my alarm on my mobile for every 40 minutes, when the alarm goes off I go for a walk around the house, get a drink, go to the toilet, anything just to get away from my work for a few minutes. Then get back upstairs and set the alarm again.

Always allow an hour or two for dinner and lunch breaks.

Hope this helps!!!!!! And good luck with your exams!!!!

Revision is a personal thing and also depends on how many exams you take. I know I left it 1 month to revise for my finals at uni. But when I sat down to determin how much time I had left and the syllabus to revise for each exam the panic took over and it went from there!

The first thing that goes is your concentration so regular breaks is a must say 5-10mins every hour. After long sessions I'd do something mad to take my mind of it, like stuff my face, geek out, play the air guitar and cleaning for 1/2hr. After those mad sessions I'd practice some typical questions to see that the stuff from the previous session had sunk in. When it did sink in I then got the motivation just to "get it done"- didn't want to spend the summer revising for resits.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:
