Google play music. I have my own collection uploaded there, but, these days I just ask google to play whatever and I just stream it. I've given up on buying CD's and music.

For offline music I use Spotify premium and downloaded shows from the BBC iPlayer radio app

I do the same but rip them lossless and stick them on my 160 Gb I iPod Classic.

FLAC is lossless. It's the Free Lossless Audio Codec. :)

If where you are going on holiday has WiFi then your current method still works.

Personally I've lots of CDs and more recently bought tracks I like from Amazon. They work on any device.

Often Amazon let you download MP3 files of CDs you have bought from them "for free" (or perhaps more correctly "included").

Is there somewhere you can buy and download FLACs?

(I know you can make them from CDs)

Yes, there are sites like Qobuz which sell music as FLAC, some 24bit Hi-res and others 16bit (they also do streaming).
But they don't have an extensive collection.

I said above that I always bought CDs and ripped them to FLAC, but there have been a few albums that aren't available on CD, so I've had to buy the FLAC files, then download the artwork and burn a CD for my collection. Grr! All that hassle and it's no cheaper, either!

I've used Boomkat in the past. I also looked at Juno Download, but the files I wanted were cheaper on Boomkat.

wow thanks for all the replies. Looks like streaming is the way forward.

I've already used Spotify premium so not eligible for the 99p offer but I'll still look in to it if it means being able to download for offline listening. Thanks again all.
