I'm going on holiday soon so that's what has got me thinking about this. Also how do you listen to it - on your phone/ipod/mp3 player?

For all I use it I've been using Spotify on my phone (the free version) but would be keen to find out if there was a way to listen to music without having to stream it?

Are you asking how to pirate music ?

Or how to get your own music that you own, onto a specific device ?

    join Spotify premium for £10
Download all the music you want, to avoid streaming, ads etc
You can then cancel premium membership when you return

so all it costs is a tenner

I buy CDs, and rip them to FLAC. I have a phone and a couple of 1GB MP3 players, so if I want more than a handful of albums, I'll transcode the FLAC files to WMA VBR, which (to my ears) is one of the better lossy codecs.

I think Spotify have a 99p 3 month premium membership offer at the moment. Not sure if it's 99p/month or for the three months but it's a good price either way. Just remember to cancel before it reverts to full price, if you don't want to keep it.

I predominantly use Apple Music to stream tracks.

If I like something enough (after a few listens) then I'll purchase it via iTunes.
