I think the OP owns a BMW - but he hasn't used the name BMW.

    He thinks it's a Jeep. ;)

I know some LandRover owners who also think they own a Jeep. :rotfl:

I think a BMW dealer would be best to diagnose the fault - then with that knowledge he could go to an indy BMW specialist.

Of course the best place for help on X5s would be a BMW forum.

I doubt a Jeep one would be much use. :p

Schoolboy error on your part i'm afraid.... jeep with a lower case has been a generic term for decades to refer to an off road vehicle, coming from the original Willys Jeep.

He didnt say type Jeep, he typed jeep

Perhaps if you'd taken the time to google that instead of trying to make the O/P look stupid...

From Wikipedia "It is also used as a generic term as the lowercase "jeep" for vehicles inspired by the Jeep that are suitable for use on rough terrain."

Just in the same way as a hoover has become a generic term for vacuum cleaner.

    I'm embarassed for you... :o

The owners manual should show where the fuses are, the one that feeds all of the above items would probably be labelled "infotainment".

... although you would hope one of the 7 mechanics to look at it so far would have looked at the fuse....

Just because it isnt used on rough terrain doesnt mean it isnt suitable for it.

Way to go you guys for making the newbie who asked a civil question feel welcome BTW :T

I don't use generic terms - either with or without lower case letters. My vacuum cleaner is not a Hoover even if someone thinks it's a hoover.

Try using the term 'jeep' on a LandRover forum and see what happens.

No need to be embarrassed for me by the way - I know how to spell embarrassed. ;)

    Well there you go.

Your subjective view doesnt make everyone else wrong though.

Oh, and i guess you'd never use any of these general terms then :-

    Jacuzzi
    Breathalyzer
    Ping-Pong
    Rollerblade

So everyone else has to stick to your subjective way of putting things. If his using the term 'jeep' made anything unclear, I'd be with you. However we all (including yourself) know what the OP was referring to, so in my view there was no harm, no foul.
