2007 X5 Problems
2007 X5
Hopefully someone can help as have been to 7 mechanics and no one can help even after putting it on the computer.
Battery went flat so had it changed.
Approx a week later the screen for sat nav/radio screen went blank. Radio stopped working. Parking sensors stopped working.
Has been this way for months now and driving me insane.
Apart from this the jeep is running fine but no one can see any problem apart from that there is no power going to the screen.
A mechanic said I should strip down the whole vehicle to find the problem however that cost could be a fortune
Anyone help?

Which garages have you been going to? The BMW X5 is a highly complex car, you should take it to BMW specialists.0
-
First thing to find out would be if these items share the same circuit.
Then its checking if they are getting power.0 -
Am based in NI so took it to local mechanics.
Not sure how to check the circuits or power.
Assume a BMW specialist would cost a fortune?
Thanks for replies0 -

They'll be a lot cheaper than a main dealer.
Your choices seem to be -- Let a non specialist dealer charge you an hourly rate and strip down your car on the off chance he finds out whats wrong with it @ £30 an hour and might never find it
- Take it to Bavarian or Prentices @ £100+ per hour and will find it
- Take it to a specialist @ maybe £50 an hour and most likely will find it
Sadly, its part of the "fun" of running a car like that.
I gave up and only run stuff like that still under manufacturers or extended warranty OR not at all0 -
Strikes me all those things would be on the same fuse.........“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

OR a bad connection somewhere.
Might be worth posting on an X5 forum. Someone is bound to have hit it before / have some pointers.0 -
The owners manual should show where the fuses are, the one that feeds all of the above items would probably be labelled "infotainment".“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

It will cost a lot less than wasting lots of money on constantly taking it in for diagnosis and replacement of parts which weren't the actual problem. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I think the OP owns a BMW - but he hasn't used the name BMW.
He thinks it's a Jeep.
I know some LandRover owners who also think they own a Jeep. :rotfl:
I think a BMW dealer would be best to diagnose the fault - then with that knowledge he could go to an indy BMW specialist.
Of course the best place for help on X5s would be a BMW forum.
I doubt a Jeep one would be much use.
