Why do flight to Egypt cost more than a long haul flight to India etc ?

they charge on average 400.00 each ways plus hold on top 25.00 each way

Forty years ago airfares usually had some relation to the flight distance, but these days there are many other factors.

Pay the extra and avoid India if your blood boils so easily...

How are you calculating your average, what dates are you looking at? I'm seeing returns from £200, far less than £400 each way.

Airlines charge a fare they can get away with. There are lots of flights to India and to the US and limited flights to Egypt, no doubt due to a lack of demand. Fares and distance travelled are unrelated.

cannot find any flights for £800 return...what site are you looking at and when
As has been posted there are returns for £200ish...I regularly pay double that to travel between Edinburgh and London return...how much would your blood boil then (yes I have flown to US for less than my weekly commute flight)
