Bank Clerk can't add up????

I went into my Natwest bank today to pay in two cheques totalling £87. The bank clerk filled out the paying in slip for me and I noticed he had put £76 in the total. When I pointed it out to him, he was a bit flustered and I made light of the situation. However when I left I felt quite aggreived that had I not pointed it out that I would have been credited £11 short.
Would this have been the case or would someone have picked it up. He also didn't ask me to sign the slip either. Which I thought was strange!

Good thing you noticed the error. You were right to point it out to the teller. Makes you wonder how many other mistakes they make with people's accounts.0

well, he should have done as he was trained & given you the slip to complete, he's supposed to check your banking - It would have been picked up at the processing centre as the transaction wouldn't have balanced & they would have notified you in writing - he could have been a trainee or just having an off-day as we all do0

Give the lad a break, he was probably a new starter, as virginmoneysaver said you would have been credited with the correct amount. We all make mistakes at work, I know I sometimes do

Threre is one sure way of never making a mistake. Do nothing.0

Thanks,
I accept that people make mistakes, and that he might have been a newbie, but I can't work out how he got 76 from 52 and 35
.
Ah well, no harm done, but he was a little strange the way he got all flustered!

If I had to guess he added the cheques up correctly.
However, the keys 6, 7 & 8 are next to each other on the keyboard.
So he mistyped in 76, instead of 87..

Sorry but mistakes happen, there are several checks in place and audit trails for incidents like this
Secondly any bank I deal with get you too sign a confirmation slip were you would have saw the amount was incorrect
