I'm really not looking for people to point out where I went wrong. Find something better to do with your time.

My point is very clear: There is no financial benefit to purchasing any extras before you visit the hotel. In doing so, you may lose the money for all of them. So don't even consider it when booking with Travelodge.

So why are you reporting them to trading standards?

At the top of the page where you add breakfast it says

    Customise your stay

Save time today with our extras

We seem to differ on what the word 'clear' means, especially as you can't check the 'extras' section when you go to read the T&Cs, so you wouldn't know to join the two up.

So in order to be clear - are you explicitly saying that you cannot foresee anyone making a similar error? Because I'm trying to help people here, but it really seems that helping others is an uphill struggle.

Not sure you've read my post, but not to worry. Thanks for taking the time to reply, though.

As a guess you booked the cheapest hotel you could find at the cheapest rate you could get so it seemed a bit off to complain about the level of service you received. To call it a 'scam' when the hotel chain you booked with (at the lowest price possible) complied fully with their own terms and conditions seemed a bit (actually a lot) OTT.

Just out of interest why didn't you ask them for a clean sheet if you didn't like the one that was on?

Because they have an obligation to be both clear and explicit. In fact they already are clear and explicit when you book the room - it says 'non-refundable' when you click it. There is nothing to mention extras until you click through at the point of paying, then read their entire T&Cs.

I don't think I can get my money back, but I can certainly try and get them to stop conning people by hiding their cancellation policy for extras.

    I never said I didn't?

This isn't a service. This is a cancellation policy that isn't stated on their website at the time of selection. So your comment is categorically wrong.

They arent conning people, the link to the Ts&Cs appears on every web page from landing to booking to confirmation. It is up to people to take the time to read the Ts&Cs before they book.

Is the title of my post hidden to everyone else except me? Because no one has disagreed with my advice in the title, yet we're having arguments over little details that have very little to do with it.

Like, are people actively trying to stop others getting advice here? Did people wake up this morning, head to Money Saving Expert, and decide that what could be some good advice was worth shouting down and disagreeing with on every merit?

Are you talking about the link at the very bottom of their footer, in with about 30 other links? Because that's the only place it appears on the Extras page.
