Posting to self-storage unit?

Hi. We've just sold something on ebay and the Paypal details give the address as a self-storage unit. Should this be a concern as the buyer will not sign for it? Am posting via the Post Office. Any advice appreciated :)

Ask the buyer how the receipt of the package will be handled. Many of these facilities now have a 'front desk' to deal with paperwork - but not all.

Thank Pun, So if he says the front desk will sign for it, would you say it's ok to send? If no 'front desk' can I /would you cancel the sale?

I don't think you should cancel a sale because you don't like the look of the address, unless he has feedback which suggests other sellers have had issues with this. Make sure you follow the ebay guidelines exactly in terms of sending to the address he stipulated during checkout/use a tracked delivery method to ensure you have seller protection.

You could of course google the address he's given to see what facilities the website claims for this particular self-storage unit.

I have a Safestore self-storage unit and have larger items sent there all the time and the staff there sign for it and store it away for me to collect. Their storage unit for deliveries is always full so a lot of people use it.

It's useful if you are not likely to be in.

I've sent quite a few items to storage units, I always think the buyer is taking all the risks not the seller. As long as my item shows as delivered I'm safe against an INR so it is up to the buyer to make sure they have something in place to retrieve their items. I certainly wouldn't be checking with the buyer what those arrangements are.

Also sent to plenty of self storage units. Some businesses purely operate from a unit. Cheaper than having to rent premises. Some of them also pack small packages into one large package and then ship it aboard.

Like Soolin says, just send it to the address you have been given. Once it arrives there, it is no longer your problem. I'm sure the buyer wouldn't have that address on their Ebay account if items were not arriving.

When i was selling on markets and country shows i was working some weeks 7 days, even if not i was working from 6am til 6pm, so now way i could be around to take stock deliveries, so i was left with local wholesalers which have limited stock and could only go after 6pm, whoch would leave me 30 min to an hour to look and pick up stock.
So i took out a staffed secure storage unit, so i could order stock during the day online and have it delivered to the storage unit without me having to worry.

you are also covered if it is the address they have on their paypal account
