Newcastle to Kiev

My friend and I are planning a holiday to Kiev. We want to visit Chernobyl while we are there and I'm wondering whether anyone can give advice on who to book the trip with? I have seen online that a number of tour companies offer the visit, but it would be good to have recommendations before booking.
Also, can anyone recommend a cheap but decent hotel we can stay in which is relatively close to most points of interest.
When I've looked at flights from Newcastle I got a shock at the awkward flight times and lengthy stop off in Amsterdam both on outward and inward bound flights.

I think there is only one airport offering direct flights and I think it might be Gatwick. My local airport is Newcastle and to fly from any other airport just adds further expense, especially since the flight times are pretty much the same where ever we fly from unfortunately.0 -
Luton, Heathrow and Gatwick do direct flights from the UK. All have rail links and hotels.
£150 return from Luton has got me interested!0 -

I'll have a look. Will try and work out whether it's a better option than having to stop off in Amsterdam. I think when I looked a while ago, the stop off worked out shorter than the travel time ect to one of the London airports.0
