Where to go to just get away and relax for 3-5 days alone?

I have the whole of next week off work (Woohoo!) and it also happens to coincide with my 29th birthday.

Apart from the usual meet a few friends for drinks, visit family I have most of the week to myself and was thinking about having a short 3-5 day break somewhere just to relax, have a few beers, visit a couple of local landmarks, sit by the pool, that sort of idea.

Any suggestions as to where to go either in the UK or, as I have in my head at the moment, Europe? Not looking at a huge budget, £300 - £500 maybe? :) Travelling from around the Yorkshire area so Leeds / Manchester, I don't have a car / driving license either so that probably rules quite a few options out.

London? If you can get to Leeds/Manchester, London doesn't add much more to the cost (although accommodation will) and then you have Every Single free museum, the Parks, and whatever else the travelpass of your choice can take you.
Hock deep in landmarks, likewise places to drink (although eyewatering pricey relative to Leeds), plural public pools to swim or paddle in (not sure about the lounging, but easiest way to find out would be to visit) & as for alone - you'll be surrounded by hundred of thousands of people for whom making eye contact is a solecism. (Although they may have nudged that a bit in the light of recent events.)

That said, there's loads to do & see in Manchester, just not as signposted (in pretty much every sense) as London, and I think there are a few pools. Certainly accommodation, beer & general relaxing will likely be cheaper, there's no hassle about in what currency, there should be fewer language issues and you may find having Leeds as a bonus saves fuss.

    Go to Skyscanner.

Type in Manchester to Everywhere and your dates.

    Be inspired.
  • Find a cheap flight to Tenerife.
But instead of going to South to the beaches head north to the capital Santa Cruz ( there's a direct bus costing a few euros. )
It's a great little city virtually devoid of tourists but with good bars and restaurants, some interesting sights and plenty of reasonably priced hotels.
    Perfect for a long weekend.

Menorca from LBA Friday to Friday.
Majorca from MAN, Saturday to Saturday
Gran Canaria from Manchester Sat to Sat
Paphos from MAN Sat to Sun

Lots of options as long as you don't spend too much on accommodation ;)

Cheaper to DIY. You can buy flights for the duration you want and then look to AirBnB or the like.

Look on Last Minute.com, lots of options there. Use the Inspire Me search: options of from Manchester to Cyprus, Croatia, Portugal, Spain, Greece, all within budget.
