Morning everyone, thanks for the start Dumpling, yay on the too big trousers :j X

Welcome SilverOldie you're in lovely company here, one of the friendliest threads and always here with company and wise advice. Many happy returns, hope you have a good day with your lovely DH x
Bit late posting today, I was up with the larks and had walked the girls before 7 but then decided to take a cuppa back up to bed to read a book and promptly fell back asleep! Have only just finished my coffee and eggs :D
Not much planned for today, few chores needing doing including filling my car up with petrol and my floors need mopping. It's quite windy out there so will get some washing done as well.
Tea will be something veggie, possibly baked peppers with goats cheese.

Have a good day folks x

Morning all from a very soggy Wales.
Firstly let me welcome Silver-Oldie and wish you a very Happy Birthday :bdaycake:
Wittering and waffling will eventually become easier as you get to know everyone :rotfl:and also everybody is very supportive in times of need.
    JackieO well said.
    Dumpling well done.
Nelski after my Mum passed away my dad lost over 3st, even though I made sure he ate at least one good meal a day. Now 3 years on he has gained his weight back but I still worry that he is snacking on biscuits rather than making himself a meal. I do have him over every Sunday and send him home with at least one extra dinner and usually he comes over for another on a week day, but I still worry.
Anyway my birthday tea was a bit fraught with worry as DD had to take pup to emergency vets as he appeared to have eaten some plastic and it had become stuck on the way out :(. So 2hrs and £110 later he was back, bounding about like Tigger !
Dh has just walked in, ranting like a madman, oh boy I'm in for an hour of ear bashing. Bl00dy medication  . Some days he goes from a gentle giant into a raving lunatic and he was never like it before his treatment started :(.
Will try to come back on later when I have found out who or what has got up his nose this time !

Good morning everyone, thanks to Dumpling for starting the thread and hugs to anyone that needs one.
Welcome and Happy Birthday silver-oldie. It's my elder son's birthday today - how did he get to be 26 and now older than I was when I had him! He's in Cardiff so I won't see him today but we'll have a good chat later.
I woke to the most torrential rain this morning but it has dried up a bit now so fingers crossed I'll get some more done in the garden. Didn't get as much done yesterday as I hoped but it's slowly getting there. My geraniums are all now potted out but I've still the bulk of my annuals to get out and some fuschias to tidy up and repot so still quite a fair bit to do flower garden wise. Veg plot is more or less there just more sowings of beets, beans and salads. I was looking at the cucumbers in my greenhouse and I think they might actually be courgettes. I've checked the courgette pots and they seem to be courgettes as well. Time will tell but I suspect I have made a booboo in the seed department (they were seeds from last year)
Hope everyone has a good day x

    Hi everyone,

:bdaycake:Have some cake Silver-oldie & hope you have a lovely day.Sorry to hear of DH health troubles. I only tend to post on this thread really, and certainly not everyday as time seems to run away from me :) but everyone is very friendly. You can pick up good tips too on the OS board,I actually used one of yours last week, marking stuff in the fridge with a sharpie, saves pulling it all out when you see it on the edge :D

Its never stopped raining, started some time in the night.I've been in town to the haberdashery shop on the market, needed some bias binding for a summer top & its much cheaper than going to Hobby craft or Abakan, and handier too.Been doing a lot of sewing,DH bought me a new overlocker(serger) to replace the broken one I had to chuck so I've been getting used to it.I had a compliment yesterday on one of the dresses I made & it is a lot quicker than using the sewing machine though you still have to do bits on that.

I'm having a ' me' afternoon.DGS (3) has been staying since Thursday & his Mum picked him up earlier,I'm shattered. We took him and DGD to a country park on Saturday.I think he was missing Mum and was quite grumpy, made much worse when he fell on a gravel path and cut his knees, one already had a scab on which got knocked off.His screams were deafening, the blood was running down his legs so we decided to call it a day, just stopping to get an ice cream in the hopes it would calm him down :o poor thing.
He had a sleep yesterday afternoon so wasnt ready for bed,we all sat and watched the concert till he flagged ,then popped him to bed.

I wasnt familiar with Ariana Grande, but all credit to her for doing the concert & it all being arranged quickly.I had a lump in my throat several times, aespecially when she hugged the young girl in the choir.

Nelski hope Mums banana buying is swift :).My DDad also lost a lot of weight when DM passed away,he just lost his appetite :( with all the worry and stress.

    Dumpling-new trousers- :j

    Bye for now xx

Wave hello to Silver-oldie  and Happy Birthday :bdaycake:

Youngest dd has just set off for the bus to the station to get back to Liverpool later this afternoon and the house seems very quiet. I made a couple of beef and veg pies using lower cal potato pastry for a topping which turned out really well and we had one for lunch with some baked beans.

I have some potato pastry left so might make a few sausage rolls this afternoon and then freeze the meat pie in a lidded container.
The upstairs bedroom is being painted tomorrow and once that is done I can finish sorting out boxes.

Starting to feel a bit down so going to have a large mug of tea and watch a comedy on tv with my feet up. Having a couple of days with two dds, shopping etc was lovely and looking forward to seeing a dd or two at the weekend so want to give myself a kick up the bum.

    Hugs to all

....Neldki err I mean Nelski (damn phone)... I can do one better. I hadn't got a clue who Arianna Grande was. :o

Neither had we before the Manchester attack :o Much respect though, not only for piling it together & being so composed, but for dancing & running in those platform mega-heeled boots!

I have just come on to gloat!! Despite being the ripe old age of 71, I have been aware of Ariana Grande for quite some time!! That's what comes from looking after grand-daughters so much as they are all obsessed with watching the re-runs of Sam and Cat, in which Ariana rose to stardom when she was around 16/17!! She has grown into a lovely, caring young woman and good on her for coming up with the idea of the benefit concert. I watched it and have to admit I was choked up quite a few times. And I couldn't take my eyes of THOSE shoes either JACKIE! One step in those and I would have been flat on my face!

The promised rain duly arrived on cue this morning and has been falling on and off ever since. We had a bit of a soggy trip into town!

Enjoy the rest of the day folks xx
