I would attempt a Phoenix BIOS recovery having exhausted the basic hardware checks.0

If you repeatedly tap F2 as soon as the laptop turns on, does it open the BIOS settings?
I'm wondering if the CMOS settings have become corrupted over time...? Maybe you could try a BIOS recovery by following the steps (under the bit about password resetting) here:

You used to be able to troubleshoot bootup problems with decoding the beeps. Is this not the case anymore? You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

I don't know from whence they copied and pasted that guide, but it is missing critical instructions.
I wrote out a guide for BIOS recovery, but it seems to have disappeared.0 -

H, there are no beeps coming from laptop and no I don't have access to another computer or laptop. Thanks for all your help so far. Will try the F2 thing later when I get a chance but I don't think it will respond0

This would be my bet,
Has the machine not been used for a while?
Sometimes CMOS battery goes flat and it does not know which device to boot from.
If you can get BIOS menu to load by pressing F2 or DEL key as it starts you might get in
You might also try to remove and reseat memory modules.
Otherwise the BIOS recovery above is an option
The BIOS recovery instruction above won't work, as it is missing software and firmware.0
