Leave them to it with the insurance. It was their accident, you're not involved. You trying to get the car out of the garage won't help anyone. Their insurance will undergo the checks value and make a recommendation as to whether to fix or write off, either they'll send you a cheque or get it repaired. Get some quotes ready for values.
It'll probably be wrote off yes, but your gap insurance will mean you won't lose anything.
The courtesy car should have come sooner yes, but the faults on the car are probably to be expected on a old car.0 -
In honesty this has been a bit of a learning curve. I think I'll take a bit more time before buying my next car. I honestly wouldn't of expected these faults for a car I'm buying from a dealer I trusted. Next time I'll look to get a better price.
Thankfully the engineer was my choice so fingers crossed it's written off then.
With regards to this post it's clear to me that I need to remain factual when it comes to logging my complaint and not mention the faults with my car just incase the two scenarios become a little mixed together.
Thanks.0 -
As you have taken the car in to have faults fixed, the garage will know, and will likely tell their insurers. This will likely reduce the value of the car. You might not have expected the faults, but faults happen.
If you find yourself with a gap, then your only remedy will be to recover these from EH. The fact that you go on about the car being X months new to you, demonstrates to me that you expect a 11 year old car to be as perfect as say a 5 year old one. You are always taking calculated risks when buying older cars.0 -
You agreed to pay over £5k on a 11 year old mini?!?
I cant believe it either!!
OP you have to understand wether you like it or not that the car is OLD and you will have problems, you also overpaid.
as for the accident which you say people are overlooking, it seems like they are sorting it
do you have nayone with a bit of knowledge that can go with you next time you buy a car0 -

The finance agreement is 3.5 years as they wouldn't allow for a 5 year finance agreement due to the cars age. Finance was the only option for me as I do not earn a huge amount of money so cannot afford to buy a car outright.
All in, with gap insurance and the 2 year warranty I have to pay £5100. It's around £123 a month.
I don't think my expectations have been too high. I don't want a brand new shiny car. My only requirement was that my car was red and will last me for the next few years. I honestly don't think that's asking a lot. If the car will not last the finance agreement then a company like Evans should not be selling it.
Beyond the ailments on my car my main gripe and reason for this thread was the accident and lack of service from this company, it seems that people are looking over this?
Would I be safe to say that the best outcome for me would to be for the car to be written off then?
The car will last to the end of the finance agreement however its how much its going to take to get it there thats the problem.
Your £4.5K+ a bit of interest would have bought you a low miles 2012 Fiesta 1.25 Zetec rather than something so old and known for generating big bills...

over at Kwikfit(very efficient and affordable MOT service by the way). The work that needed doing totalled almost £300.
Stay away from Kwikfit. They are not your friend. They are renowned for generating work for themselves and putting the fear of god in to customers.

Will gap insurance pay out if the vehicle was in the control of a third party and was being driven on their insurance?
I've never had this type of insurance myself so have no idea of the terms generally applied.0
