Ryanair didn't inform me of flight change to 2 days earlier

Options
Hi All, I booked outbound flights with Ryanair for 8ppl. Went to check in and the flight gate was closed, I called and was initially told me there was a technical issue with notifying me of the change but that my flight had moved from Saturday the 27th to Thursday the 25th and had already left. I had not received an email from them telling me this though a manager later said they sent one in February (deleted and junk checked and it was not there!). I paid for alternative flights (half term and bank holiday!) which cost me 3600 to a different airport the day after and had to hire another 2 cars to drive the whole of Sardinia. (landed in Olbia, needed to be in Cagliari!). Ryanair have given me a refund (I wasn't asked if that's what I wanted they just did it) but I am out of pocked nearly 3k! Surely they cant just not tell me of a flight change and think this is okay? This is a lot of money - I want to know my rights for reimbursement. Help please!

Did you not discover this when you checked in online? Or did you have Business Plus tickets?

Regardless of who is to blame, this is why it's prudent to check on your bookings from time to time.

Ask them for proof that they DID advise you, i.e. Copy of their email. If it looks authentic then I don't think there's much you can do.

One thought - have you checked your travel insurance to see if such an eventuality is covered ? They don't usually cover missed flights but there are some exceptions - no idea if your situation could be one such.

Otherwise I agree with the previous post - it's best to check flights regularly, often timings will change (much more common than date changes) and it's best to be aware even if only by a few minutes.

Good luck, that's a lot of money to lose.

Too much info missing from this to help

Did you book direct or via an 'agent' ?
What happened when you checked in ? Which date did it show ?
Was there a flight on the 27th as well and you had just been moved to 25th ?
