Breakdown cover - Auto Aid or Start Rescue Or AA
Comments

Just copied this from their website....
How does AutoAid breakdown cover work?
If you experience a breakdown, just call our AutoAid helpline and we will arrange for the emergency roadside assistance.
AutoAid’s breakdown cover is personal based, which means you and your legal spouse or civil partner will be covered in any eligible vehicle you are driving at the time of the breakdown.0 -

Coming late the this debate.....
I used to be with AA (Automobile Association that is) for years - I mean literally decades.....
But the premiums just got ridiculous......
I read about AutoAid on MSE, and never looked back.
I have had years where I never needed them, and years where I have called them out more than once.
Call outs when I have broke down many miles from home, and call outs when my car is on my drive.
Inc having it taken on a transporter to a garage for serious repairs.... but this was only after Autoaid initial mechanic has diagnosed/tried to fix the problem unsuccessfully on 1st call out.
On most occasions they have been able to get me mobile again - usually a permanent repair, occasionally a temporary fix until I can get to a garage for some major work (Gear Box or Water pump etc) was needed.
So far I have no complaints.
And as for better service from other companies (AA, RAC etc) several of the guys sent by AutoAid also work for these other companies as well ..... inc the transporter and driver.
Told me himself he works for a few of other breakdown providers, and gives exactly same service to motorist.
From some of posts it seems many are just sub-contracted by Breakdown firms - rather than being 100% employed by one provider only.0 -
AutoAid use local garages near to where you break down. You might get lucky and get someone who will attempt to fix your car at the side of the road, but you might get someone who is only interested in recovering you to their garage miles away even for a simple fix.0

After seeing Martin Lewis singing the praises of AutoAid I thought I'd choose them as my recovery provider - what a mistake that was. I was miles away from home when my tyre was slashed in London. I called AutoAid, nervous and worried that I was by myself and stranded on a one way system whilst it was getting dark outside in an area I didn't know. I was told that they couldn't come and help because I didn't have a tyre repair kit on me. I told them that there was no way in hell a repair kit would fix the tyre, but they said that was their policy and there was nothing else they could do. I told them I was stranded alone and they may as well have told me 'tough'. Disgusted with the service, will never go back.0

I don’t have a spare tyre on my car, can AutoAid Breakdown still cover me?
Although the AutoAid Breakdown policy states you are required to have a legal spare tyre, we are aware that some cars do not have this and have a tyre inflation kit instead. In this instance, AutoAid Breakdown will recover your car to the nearest tyre centre for you to get a replacement.
Contact them for an explanation.0 -
The problem, I think, is that Stephanie's car did not have the manufacturer-provided tyre inflation kit.
Every breakdown service excludes recovery where the manufacturer's tyre equipment is not present.
The difference here appears that the manufacturer's equipment would not have helped.
'course, the cynical could suggest that anybody finding themselves with a flat but no inflation kit could simply stick a big knife through their sidewall...0 -

Does anyone know if auto aid have a limit to the number of callouts you can have?0

But surely misfuelling isn't a breakdown, it's down to stupidityThings like stuck/broken key, wrong fuel would be nice to have covered as well.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0
