when do you need it for? the wholesalers i found has the boxes you need for 85p but it not open till tuesday
if you want me to get one for you pm me
Thanks but she needs it by next weekend so it would be cutting it a bit fine. Thanks for the offer.
I went to some local florist today and they wanted to charge me £2.50  for 1 box and it was a yukky dark green so i politely said no thanks.
It's the Actual making of it i don't have a clue. Do you use florist wire? Where is the best place for flowers the only ones i have seen are too much money. She is expecting a posh one as she said she has had one before from the internet which really went down well but wants to save on the p&p:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boysWant to be fit for 30 not fat at 30but i want never gets!!!0 -
kitiaracat I found this website the other day that takes you through making the roses http://www.plan-the-perfect-baby-shower.com/baby-sock-rose.html (hope it is of some help)
Re the flowers online it is probably best in my opinion to source some locally as it only works out cheap buying things online if you buy in bulk (p&p is hefty)
Good luck with it.0 -

Hi everyone,
Crazygeordiegirl- Lovely cakes, I like the bathtime one!
Here is my latest creation, my first 3 tier. I absolutely loved ding it!
It's for my mum (well for my mum to give to her friend) so I'm obviously doing it for cost price (about £15ish) but how much do you think I could sell one like this for to other people?
It's got: 60 nappies, 1 blanket, 1 muslin, 1 bodysuit, 1 pair of socks, 1 brush and comb, 1 elephant, 1 baby bath cream, 1 baby soap, some cotton wol.
Here it is:

kitiaracat , she wants a "posh" one but only wants to spend £20!?
Bet she paid more than that from the internet.....a lot of these cakes cost £40-£60 quid!!
Be really careful with your costings here, I fear you may end up out of pocket and have had a huge headache over it into the bargain. Some people can really take advantage and seem to expect things for next to nothing.
For a £20 sale you should really spend no more than £10 on ingredients....you should be aiming for 100% mark-up on all items to account for not only the cost of the products but also the time you have spent sourcing the items, petrol money and approx a £5 hourly wage for your time making it.
I don't know if any of you ladies are claiming your earnings? It's easier for me as I'm already self employed so I already pay a stamp and tax etc.....but all these costs should be factored in and I feel many of you don't add on enough of a mark-up and way undervalue your business....I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this.
On a practical note kitiara, why not ask your local florist for a block of oasis (maybe 50p or £1) then put it into a gift bag. I put a bit of double sided tape on the bottom of bag then add lots of lovely appropriately coloured tissue, (bulks it out as well as looking very pretty) another bit of tape then add in the block of oasis. Check out your pound shops for nice flowers, add those in and then add in your sock buds, you may now only need about 6 pairs of socks ( making 12 buds in total ).
costs;-
oasis £1.00
gift bag £1.00
tissue £1.00
buy 2 bunches £shop flowers (cost £2 but only use half each of 2 shades save half for next bouquet) £1.00
6 prs baby socks £5
an hour sourcing and petrol costs £5.00
an hours wage for making it £5.00
£1 left for a headache tablet and a well earned cuppa for you!! :rotfl:
so please press my :T thanks :Tbutton x
