Booked a package holiday but don't want to use return flights

Hi,
So basically I have booked a package holiday for next year. I don't want to use the return flights as I want to book flights to somewhere else in the same country and continue my holiday.
Has anybody ever done this?
Would it be an issue if we were listed to be on the package holiday flight and also the flight I book elsewhere?
Thanks

Absolutely no problem at all but do please let the tour operators rep know otherwise they may hang around at the hotel searching for you when you are already somewhere else.0

Thanks! I want to use their transfer back to the airport (cheeky I know but we have paid for it so hey). So I could let the rep know on the coach we won't be on the plane with them?0 -

I imagine there's no issue I feel you're using the transfer. Just get off the bus and don't check in for your flight home. With you not checking in you'll be down as a no show for the flight and that's that.
However, blindman's suggestion is a good one. Out of courtesy more than anything else let the rep know. I doubt they will come looking for you if you haven't checked in anyway, they probably won't care, but it's not a bad idea to just mention to the rep.0 -
The main risk comes when you skip an outbound part of a return flight only to find the return leg cancelled.0
