O/S Daily Friday 2 June 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Nelski - hugs and much love to you x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dry, cloudy and overcast but very warm still.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was pork steaks in honey and mustard sauce, new potatoes, cauliflower gratin, green beans, broc and peas, ice cream for dessert for those that wanted some. Tonight again I'm not sure but it'll be something and chips for the menfolk, I may have omelette or fish cakes with salad or veg.

I was reasonably productive yesterday, got some housework done, the WM barely stopped, and everything I washed has been line dried, I have another load ready to go out on the line this morning when I water the plants.

Today's plans are to go food shopping first thing, then continue with list of jobs, I have an ironing mountain that I need get sorted so that will be done at some point today.

Keep safe and well x

    Thanks for the thread nmlc.

It's not looking too bright out there, the washing can go on the pulley. It rained a lot yesterday afternoon, hope today is better.

Just off for a swim, not sure how much I'll do today as I went with work colleagues (all young) to the trampoline park last night - really good fun but my knees are stiff today!

Hope everyone's ok, happy Friday. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone,

    Thanks for the thread nmlc.

Nelski - my thoughts are with you and your family.

We have been having lovely weather around here and I have been making the most of it. I have enjoyed nice light meals and walks around the local park. It is forecast to last into the late afternoon and then break with heavy thunder storms. I do hope that they are not too bad.

I need to pop to the supermarket this morning and then I have a friend who I haven’t seen for nearly a year as she lives quite a distance away coming to visit. She will stay for lunch and then we are going to meet a joint friend when she finishes work for a coffee, so it should be a nice day.

I made a lasagne to have with some salad for our lunch because this is what she requested. We used to live opposite each other for a number of years in the early 1980s until I moved from the area.

I am going to grab a second cup of tea and something for breakfast.

Have as good a day as possible everyone whatever you are doing.

Nelski, I hope yesterday went as well as could be expected.

Totally knackered and completely peed off here, still waiting for the tenant to be ready to move in, it looks like it's been put back another week, it's not the tenants fault as usual it's solicitors and other legal bods.

I'm also fed up with making arrangement for people to collect stuff or do jobs on the house and people either not turning up of if they do they are an hour or 2 late!! And if they do arrive they announce they have a bad back/bone in their leg and can I do the heavy lifting for them!!

My ex and his brother have come up with the bright idea of protecting their inheritance by persuading my DD (who has 5 kids) to take in their wheelchair bound, dementia ridden mother, for the grand sum of £16000 a year. They are working on the basis that as she is at home all day doing nothing it shouldn't be a problem for her.

I have had lots of advice on the Garden Fence thread that I will be passing on to DD.

    Ok, ranting over.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hugs Hester

    Morning all

Its been another cracking week I hope today is the same Last day of half term at work and its probably going to be a busy one.

Dinner tonight will either be a takeaway of some kind of pasta with smoked sausage, I will see how I feel with regards to cooking when I get in from work, its so unimaginably hot in the kitchen at work that sometimes cooking is the last thing I want to do.

Will put a wash on tonight and have a quick tidy round.

Nels I hope yesterday went as well as possible xx

    Have good days all xx

Actually Hester, they weren't the only people who thought of that. My Mother expected that of me too. God knows where she thought I'd put her....Maybe turn the living room into a bedroom maybe? If I passed my driving test I could chauffeur her around as well....Well it wasn't happening.

    Morning all,

Back to the old habit of the 3am dump. I'm so tired. Hubby came back from work last night, the sun had got to him. He was in bed for 8. Air conditioning on full. It was like siberia in our bedroom last night.

Air conditioning is now off and I'm beginning to defrost. My feet are like blocks of ice.

Must remember to take gas and electricity meter readings today. I don't want my bill estimated.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

Hester, I've read the responses on the other thread and absolutely agree. Looking after a person with this horribly cruel illness must be so exhausting, a full time job and however would your DS look after her children at the same time? Just getting them to school or to appointments would be tough, and managing in school holidays could be a nightmare. If the two chaps are so keen to get their mum out of a care home, perhaps they might consider looking after their mum themselves.

I must carry on with work today, I started to flag at 430 yesterday so cut my writing day short.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible, special thoughts with Nelski.

    Good morning everyone.

My hopes are for a fine day here, the sun is out but so is the rain. My DM still has the CH coming on at 7.am so already I'm too hot.

I'm going to zoom into JL this morning to explore their ready made curtains for the spare bedroom. After that no real idea though I'm sure my DM will keep me busy.

HH - what a rotten idea for your DD and even more rotten of her father to even suggest it.

Right, I'd better start my day.

    Happy Friday to all.

Have to nip to the Savacentre in Hempstead to get Mikey some of those spinner things that he wants(he has paid me out of his birthday cash :)) but he didn't want to go in case any of his pals saw him buying them :):):) He is off to Bluewater this afternoon with his sister and he has his birthday cash burning a hole in his pocket He got his watch and some cash from his Mum and Dad and lots of other cash presents as well and has bought himself a pair of fancy trainers that he had been desiring for ages.Today is a day off in between birthdays but tomorrow is DGS Henry's 16th Birthday and we are all going out for dinner tomorrow night as a treat.
Its all blooming birthdays DGD Holly's boyfriends birthday is on Sunday and next month it is her birthday and her Dads a week later Good job I budget well :):):)

My Mom used to wail, day and night. mom had dementia but knew exactly what she was doing as she'd stop when I went in as I joined her by singing hymns. The carers often went home with bruises where she had pinched them whilst they were changing her or dressing/undressing her.

    Morning everyone,

Warm but cloudy here, we are meant to get thunderstorms this afternoon so want to get all jobs jobbed before then.
Tilly is in the vets first to have her stitches out, she has recovered well and has all of her usual spirit & energy back :) I also need to do a shop as have run the cupboards down lately.
Our lunch out yesterday was very tasty, we both chose one of the house salads and they were such good value, I like the fact that the lady who runs the tea shop makes all her own chutneys etc. Afterwards we went for a walk along the river, looking at all the bird life and folks on their boats.
Oh HH that is pretty  of your ex and his brother.

    Thoughts are with Nelski.

Have a good day all x
