Bit the bullet this afternoon as things were quiet and accepted the latest 'update' to Version 1703

Why do they insist on messing with all my settings?

Only took me about two hours to put it back to how I wanted it.

They can't have released Windows 11 already!

My screensaver hadn't changed and don't know if it was this update or not as I had given up trying but finally able to uninstall the weather app.

You do know you could have saved your personalizations as a theme before update, and then restored it after, right?

    Nope - how?
Limitless Advanced feature but Microsoft depended.
    Sorry?

Well, as someone said, it isn't it's just a 'update' to W10

Maybe if they'd said they were going to F with my settings I'd have been better prepared!

    :(

Microsoft have said that there won't be a Windows 11 with all new features being incorporated into the update cycle. I can't really agree that what I have now (pre Creators edition) is enormously different from when I first used it soon after release. It does now have a usable menu and I just about never see the mobile phone aspect of it so it is better though.

I too get annoyed that some settings get changed but OOSU10 puts them back in no time as I mostly just use their recommended feature disabling. My main gripe is the large size of updates meaning I have to defer downloading them until I make a trip home when I have plenty of other stuff I need to catch up on without them.

I agree with the OP, Microsoft are taking the pee and I cannot understand how they are not being taken to pieces by the EU over their blatant anti-competitive behaviours.
The instructions on the box said 'Requires Windows 7 or better'. So I installed LINUX :D:D

What settings changed? I didn't notice settings changing when I updated. How much tweaking had you done that it needed 2 hours to reset?

not if you have it set to auto update. but best to schedule regular backups, so you can always revert back

You can only revert back for a short time. All Win10 updates are now mandatory, all you can change is when they are installed.
Yes 'Microsoft keeps a backup of your system for a month.' but i backup to an external source
How to stop Windows 10 update
Microsoft is treating Windows 10 as a type of security update it regularly pushes to users. Microsoft is now reclassifying Windows 10 as "recommended" rather than "optional." In doing so, those who have set their machine to automatically get important updates will get Windows 10, too. You can avoid this by turning off automatic updates in the settings under Windows Update. That's not recommended, though, because you might miss important security fixes.
