Hi,

Looking for a DECT/Cordless phone that accepts any network sim card (unlocked).

Or a Big Button mobile phone or a big mobile phone that looks similar to a DECT/Cordless phone. Must have loudspeaker function.

Thanks,

What are you trying to achieve? As far as I know the only DECT phones that accept a SIM, do so to allow stored contacts to be accessed. They don't (as far as I'm aware) have any ability to makes calls via the mobile network.

Have elderly relatives that are after a mobile phone that has big buttons or is similar shape to a dect/cordless phone so no need for a line rental.

    Something like this?
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LMBY4M6

This is not a 2G phone so won't work on the Three network, but is otherwise unlocked. Has a "base" for charging so it looks like a DECT phone.

Yeah after a phone similar to that which has a dedicated loudspeaker button, micro usb cable charging and a charging base and preferably brick size not small compact/tiny.

Want to pair it with the ID mobile Sim offer which is on the three network.

Also is there any other options out there apart from mobile phones that allows to make calls without landline line rental? surely in this day and age there must be other routes.

I think if you want broadband, you are going to be forced to also have a landline...

Right, ID Mobile as you say piggybacks onto Three so you need to be careful that you find an unlocked phone that is 3G capable at the minimum, as I say Three doesn't have a 2G network now.

Not really if I'm perfectly honest. The other options include VOIP (SkyPe and stuff) but that comes over an internet connection and you'll still need a way to get that, either over mobile or landline.

The other option I suppose could be the CB Radio route "Breaker Breaker this is Rubber Duck 1" type territory but I understand that's short-range only and not a direct replacement but again I believe this can be piped down the internet to "extend" it. I don't know much about it so don't take this as gospel.

It doesn't need a landline, but as pointed out already, any broadband only subscription will cost almost as much as a package deal!

Usually those package deals are like half price for say 6 months or 12 months then becomes full price correct?

There did used to be a thing called a "gsm gateway". You put a sim in it and then plugged your regular phone(s) into it and it made your phone system run off a mobile phone sim.

However I have no experience of them, I don't know how easy or good quality they are.

They are often 2g only (meaning none of the networks who work on three). There are 3g and 4g ones but they get quite expensive quickly.

I think some mobile contracts used to forbid their use to stop multiple phones sharing an unlimited use sim rather than one person. I don't know if they can tell mind.

There are dubious chinese ones on ebay for around £40.

I'm not sure it will end up being practical mind but it struck me as the closest to what you asked for.
