Ebay - Can I change case from INR to SNAD?

Options
Evening lovely people of infinite wisdom.

Sorry for the following woffle but cannot think how to condense info...

In a nutshell though... INR eventually arrives with damage - I'd like a partial refund & sincerely doubt seller will even read the request as they've ignored pretty much everything else.

Dispute opened in Ebay, not paypal as it wouldn't let me do that in paypal...

My concern is that I will have to close the INR but then be unable to open a SNAD (see below)

Are you sitting comfortably...

I ordered a set of widgets from a UK seller. They were sent tracked & didn't arrive on the specified date, or several days after that. Tracking number didn't exist so I suspected it was never sent. Opened INR. Seller stalled & stalled. Eventually widgets arrive loose in a jiffy bag. Several broken, several dead as a dodo & will never work...so.....can I amend this from INR to SNAD ? Packaging was terrible! There is a sort of tracking number but for the seller not buyer.

I have googled this but cannot find a straight answer, I even contacted Ebay & got this...but I'd like a partial refund, not return the whole flipping lot!

Hello,

Thank you for contacting eBay Customer Service regarding item '100 PCS *WHOLESALE zzzzz) you've purchased from 'zzzzzzz'. We are sorry to hear that you have waited to receive your item only to find out that it has issues. We understand that you want to know the steps on how to proceed. We want to assure you that we are committed to resolving this case for you.

We appreciate your patience in waiting for this item to arrive. However, as you confirmed that you’ve already received the package. However, you have received item which is not as described. Hence, you would like to have the items/refund. It is advisable that you close the Item Not Received case and file a Returns request for the item. You can file a return request using below steps for claiming a refund:

1. Find the item under My eBay and select Purchase history.

2. Locate the item and select Return this item from the More actions drop down menu.

3. Select the reason to return this item and write a message to the seller (optional).

4. Click Start return.

5. Follow the instructions to print your shipping label (if available) and send the item back to the seller.

On the next page you may ask "Request a return". Select appropriate reason (as you received a defective item) and after that you can select "Return postage carrier" and click on "Request a Return ".

**Some points to note**

- Generally buyers must wait at least seven days from the date of payment to escalate a dispute for an item not as described

- If you don’t resolve or escalate a dispute within 30 days it will be closed. When this deadline is approaching, we will remind you by email.

- A closed dispute cannot be reopened or escalated to a PayPal claim.

- Only one dispute may be opened for each PayPal payment.

If 8 business days have passed since you opened the case, and the seller hasn't resolved the problem, you can escalate the case to eBay Customer Support. If you don't contact us within 30 days of opening the case, we'll assume the issue has been resolved and we'll close the case with no additional action.

For more information on what to for returning an item, copy this link into a new browser window:

If you need any further assistance in this matter, please don't hesitate to write back again. We would be happy with best possible resolution. We wish you all the best on eBay in the future.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Ebay's told you how to proceed, so why not do as they suggest? Might not be ideal, but better than getting nothing.

Close the INR as the item has arrived. Open a SNAD.

You are allowed one [type] of claim per purchase. You've had the INR, you haven't had the SNAD.

Thanks, I guess I just don't actually TRUST Ebay to allow me to do this!

Would be interested to hear from anyone that has actually done this ...

I've had it done to me recently , my buyer was dodgy though but overlooking that it is now possible to have one of each type of case as has been said above.

In my case (as a seller) buyer opened an INR and when I reminded ebay that I had tracking showing delivery buyer suddenly found the item. However he obviously had buyers remorse so firstly he asked me for a partial which I refused, (and most sellers will refuse a partial) the item became so damaged it had to be returned. He opened a SNAD claim, deliberately broke my item (even ebay agreed it looked deliberate) and I was forced to refund in full.

In all conscience you can't keep the iNR open anyway so have nothing to lose by closing the case and opening a SNAD now. Be careful to opt for the reason 'damaged' rather than change of mind. You can ask for a partial refund but most sellers will just accept the return and send a label for you to do so.

Thank you Soolin, that's most useful.

I do actually want the items; it's just that several are damaged due to poor packaging & cannot be mended so I'd like a partial refund to make up for it rather than return the whole lot!

    Will see how it goes...

You can request a partial but seller does not have to agree and can insist on a return for a full refund (at their own cost)

They have offered a partial refund which I am happy with - just waiting for an actual refund...

Thank you to everyone for your help.
