Evening all,
Seeking some advice please.
To give you some background... My partner and I are in the process of looking for our next home. We originally put the house on the market in January and got an AIP in February. Our house has only recently sold and I have approached our lender to renew the Agreement in Principle only to be declined due to "arrears in the last 12 months".
As neither of us have missed any payments on our credit card in the past 12 months (and definitely not since February's original AIP) I have been on a credit report rampage this evening to see if I can find what has appeared in the past 2 months.
I have found a default from Lowell Group dating back to February 2012 but showing as defaulted under my name in April this year. I believe this to be from on old Vodafone account that was closed before I went abroad back in 2012. I did get a letter earlier this year and paid the £75 it was asking for straightaway.
Now this is showing as a default in this year and is preventing us from getting our new mortgage (I doubt any other lenders would touch us with this either).
Is there anyway of getting the default date updated to reflect the correct date or am I now stuck with this on my credit file for the next 6 years? Reading online I know that Lowell are cowboys and am so worried that this has ruined our chances of moving.
Please send help!!

There are worse DCA's than Lowell.
As Fatbelly suggests, send a written complaint to there compliance department, emphasis the fact the debt was paid as soon as you were aware of it, and that you are prepared to take this to the financial ombudsman if necessary (that alone would cost Lowell there £550.00 referral fee).
That may persuade them to look favourably on your situation.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. What is the £550 referral fee? Do they have to pay this to the financial ombudsman each and every time someone complains?0
-
Yes. Unless the complaint is deemed frivolous.0

Are you sure you're not confusing monthly late payment markers/status updates with the actual default date?
If the account was defaulted in Feb 2012, it is highly unlikely that the date would change.
Can you please take a screenshot and post it here (edit out any personal info)

Many thanks,

Try "Print Screen" and paste, or "snipping feature".
Failing that, take a photograph of the screen on your mobile. If there is information to be redacted, use post-it notes.0 -
Arrears in the last 12 months will be Feb 2016-Feb 2017 and not anything to do with 2012, surely?0
