Hi,
Really looking for some help please. I am a U.K. Citizen from N Ireland originally, I've been living overseas from 2005-2015 and have recently returned to the UK and am residing in Scotland. I recently tried to take out a contract with EE and was refused due to my 'credit' I earn a good wage, am employed full time and have savings in the bank. I have never been late with rent or bills and I am really stressing over this. I have tried a free credit check with Experian, which they could not find me and could not provide a credit check. I'm worried if I try and get a mortgage in the next year or two I am going to be rejected! Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

You need to start building a history. Start with a bank account, a su prime card, or even a catalogue if you can't get anything else.
A mortgage within a couple of years may be optimistic, but a large deposit could help overcome that.0 -
Thanks so much for your help!
That's the funny thing, I've always had my UK account open and funds going into it (it's a N Ireland bank account) never heard of a Su prime account so will certainly look into that. Thanks again for your help0 -
Should gave read sub prime. Eg aqua or Vanquis.

Does your bank show up on your credit files?
You need to check all 3 which can be done for free here:
https://www.clearscore.com (Equifax)
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/creditclub (Experian)
https://www.noddle.co.uk (Call Credit)
Are you on the electoral roll and does this show up across all 3?I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com0
