Moving house, best alternative to Sky?

We are a family of 5 looking to save some money on our media set up.
We are out of contract with sky (we have tv/phone/bb with them)and have got rid of box sets.
A bit bewildered:huh: by all that is out there, but I was thinking about getting freesat and a firestick (we have prime). Would that be a good setup or overkill?
Also looking at our phone and BB for best deals.
Thanks in advance

Probably best if you provide some more details before anyone can offer much advice. How much are you paying for Sky right now, is your current broadband sufficient for your needs, what do you watch on TV, do you know what will be available with freesat and a firestick? Would you want to subscribe to something like netflix too?0

If the new house has an aerial and no dish, Freeview would be a cheaper option than Freesat which would require paying for dish installation.0

Hi Guys, I don't want to hijack the OPs post but I was about to start a simiar thread. My father in Law is just moving to near us. He has always had Sky everything.... We have finally cancelled that contract. He is spending more than £123 per month which included something called Box Nation. He is not a big PC man though it may be handy. He loves his sport and likes old programmmes and history etc. He likes to phone relatives now and again (we could coax him to mainly do this in the evenings). The property he is moving to has got a Sky dish installed. We feel that he could be spending a lot less than £123 monthly. We aren't any good at this as we manage happily with freeview though my partner keeps suggesting Freesat (Why? I haven't a clue). Can anyone suggest any advice to make our choices easierIf youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!0

Your FiL isnt going to get alot or no sports on Freesat.
If its sports he likes maybe BT Sport is an option, can also get the landline from them too.0 -
Assuming he's out of minimum term, tell him to give his notice and wait for the retention offers-he should be able to halve that at least. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
