How to disguise 1 tall ugly concrete fence post?

We've recently extended the height of our fence with trellis & are happy with it, but there's one tall sticking up fence post that's much taller than the others. It's right next to the conservatory so I don't want put a dangly hanging basket on it in case it knocks into the glass. It would take a long time for any climbing plant to grow that high and I'm stuck for ideas???

Paint it with the same paint as the fence

    I second painting it.

Alternatively, soft hanging planters like these flower planters or these strawberry planters.

Thank you! Emoji, I now want to paint all the other concrete posts in the garden - I can't believe how very smart and 'not concrete' that makes them look! So I've just got to decide which shade to go with. I love the idea of soft planters jayII, so will be having a keen look around for those, or maybe a directly fixed rattan one. Is concrete difficult to screw/nail fixings into? I need to check with our lovely neighbour about how things are looking from her side too :)

Before painting it and ensuring first:

    a) I really owned it
    b) I was really sure I never wanted a higher fence in the future
    c) I mentioned I was doing it to the neighbour (if appropriate)
    d) I put my toe tectors on
    e) found someone to help me

I'd use my disc cutter and chop the top off.
  • Drill and stick a bunch of vine eyes in, then run twine down to a big pot of runner beans.

Gives almost instant cover and beans whilst you work out what you want.

But not Russian Vine. It's too invasive and really not that nice - I'd be thinking about something more fragrant (Honeysuckle in a big pot?) or useful.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

It's ok, we definitely own the fence, phew. It's a bit hard to explain why that one's so tall - there are 3 of them, one attached to the house, 'cos there's a raised patio next door so the fence 'steps up' with the patio. I may add trellis on that side too, if it would look best, but that'll still leave the one tall post standing out; hopefully when half term calms down a bit I can paint it to match the wood. I didn't know it's possible to cut them, & yes Davesnave I guess it would be very dusty! Runner beans sound a very good idea, thank you Jojo .

It's just occurred to me that there would be sparks too, from the metal reionforcing rods inside, which might not do those beautifully white UPVC windows much good!
