Another Germolene ointment fan here although I do use the cream now as I was told years ago that it was anaesthetic as well as antiseptic which Savlon wasn't? The pain certainly goes as soon as it's applied.
Another old medicine cabinet favourite was 'MagSulph paste' used to come in a brown glass jar and needed a good stir to distribute the oil that formed on the top. Boots do it now in a little plastic tub which I seem to remember was quite expensive last time I bought some. I used it a couple of nights ago on a rose thorn embedded in my finger. When I removed the protective plaster the next morning the thorn came with it:) (I remember it being used to remove gravel from knees!)
