Don't know about Iodine but I've had Inodine dressings0

For a little while both sorts of Germolene were available in tubes....that was very recently, like 18 months ago. Now it is just the white cream.
So those are just two classic examples of useful, tried and tested home medications that have been sneakily phased out.
I am very pleased that I am not the only person to be told that Savlon Dry Spray was always being asked for. I bet I'd we could get hold of the right person and asked the question we would be told, "There's no demand for it," which is patently untrue.
I have been anointed with Germolene pink stuff, and used it in turn on my children and grandchildren for 78 years now. How DARE they stop producing it.
Shall we march on Downing Street?

Aah, Germoline. I loved that smell and the stickiness of it. It was definitely the cure all in our house but my dad favoured TCP, he even gargled with it when he had a sore throat.
According to Sainsbury's website you can buy Savlon Antiseptic Dry Spray for £2.50.0 -
Yes, I've seen that too but it's a different matter if you actually try to get it. Perhaps they haven't realised yet that they don't have it in stock.
I'm not near enough to a Sainsbury's to try tracking it down there, but i can't think that they would be able to get it when pharmacies can't.
Unless of course some bright spark got wind of the fact that Savlon Dry was about to be unobtainable and cornered the market.
I'd love to know if anyone can find it. Failing that, why it has suddenly disappeared. Likewise pink Germolene ointment.I believe that friends are quiet angels

I know you shouldn't rely on Wiki as a source of information but worth having a read anyway:

interesting, but it doesn't explain why they changed the ingredients! ( unless I missed that bit! )0 -
kaolin and morphine you can no longer buy as morphine is a controlled substance due to addictive properties.
you can buy 'wound spray' and 'spray on waterproof plaster' which are both fairly the same as savlon spray... I'm pretty sure ours are Tesco and savlon respectively.. bought last year from Tesco.
Plastic tubes don't split like metal ones so you don't end up with a split tube and cream all over your medicine bag.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Germolene has changed its name here ( maybe not in UK) and its that awful white stuff that is no way as good as the stuff I was plastered with as a child.......fell over as a regular thing. Cant remember the new name. Dettol was the antiseptic liquid of choice.....some of the cousins had TCP which my mother looked down o as being new-fangled or some such. Someone mentioned Snowfire, which is still available and unbeatable for skin cracks.

I gather from the Wiki report that Germolene ointment is only unavailable in the UK. What have we done?
Never mind, it also says that we can get it with a doctor's prescription. I bet GPs will be thrilled to be inundated with requests for Germolene ointment.
Perhaps GPs can prescribe Savlon Dry Spray as well.
I'm off to investigate.I believe that friends are quiet angels
