OH wants wireless

I'm on BT-Yahoo broadband with an oldish PC running on Windows ME.
My OH needs wireless for her laptop. My question is:
Do I upgrade with BT-Yahoo or just buy a wireless router and do some DIY?

BT are giving them away (homehubs), on option 2 or 3, (but you pay for it in the end with increased charges, and a lock-in)

or buy a router, eg. netgear dg834g ebuyer.com
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

Yup get a netgear dg834g. They work.

If I remember rightly it comes with a network cable for your existing PC.
    OH to attach wirelessly.
WExisting PC changes from USB to ethernet (network cable).

You'll need you account name and password for BT Yahoo (they will probably have support on their website for doing this, print them off before you start. Also remember existing settings before you start so you can get back to them if its snafu ).

You'll need to set up security for wifi. There are some threads for this on this site.

DIY should be minimal is you already have USB modem.

You need to get one of these. The cheapest should be fine.
