That is interesting has not worked with me, I had emergency SIMs for family on Virgin and they did expire.
I think this is true now.
It was always the case that an unused Virgin SIM would remain connected (almost) indefinitely, however, and it has happened to me, it looks like there may have been a policy change to disconnect infrequently used SIMs.0 -

if you set up the account using both a mobile number and e-mail address that are "disposable" and not used for anything else and only use the FB account for looking at a local community website, I can't really see that there is much that Facebook can find or do with the information concerned especially if you also register using an alias as the OP appears to have done with their new e-mail address.
but if they find out you using fake details they will close your account and block your IP0 -
IP ban No biggie, IP's are leased by ISP and disposed of in 10m with a router reboot,
FB do close down fake accounts every day when they find them0 -

I have managed site policy and I can tell you that IP by itself is a blunt tool, it has to be used with other remnants, all of which can be changed by a professional user with the right tools.
So they would combine cookies, Google tag manager and Google or other Analytics data, Facebook go a lot further, they use widgets that you see on other sites, that is part of how they profile you.
Even if they did ban the IP, nobody is going to lose any sleep on people not being able to log into Facebook, probably doing them a favour!0 -
I would say it is worse in the States because some of the big ISP's tend to keep you on an IP, even if you turn off router for a day. You have to ring them to ask them to release you from that IP which is tedious.
In my business ended up having to pay and get a static IP from my ISP as i kept having to whitelist my IP in my servers so it was not blocked as bruteforce attacks0 -
Facebook arent going to start blocking IP's.
They will close an account reported as fake but if you think about it, it is actually beneficial to them to have as many account open as possible ..
eg "look here Mr Advertiser - this is how many pairs of eyes your advert has the possibility of reaching"
Of course they know loads of accounts are duplicate or fake - but that helps them rather than hinders them - they are never ever going to block an IP .. Ever0 -
they are never ever going to block an IP .. Ever
