Eshul, you need an online sms service, such as clickatell.
You can then have a virtual number to receive texts (which i presume the verification process will use)

Think you're missing the point here - All that above stuff doesnt do a thing to stop FACEBOOK themselves prying into your life
But if the information supplied is fake, Facebook can only pry into your fake life.
if you set up the account using both a mobile number and e-mail address that are "disposable" and not used for anything else and only use the FB account for looking at a local community website, I can't really see that there is much that Facebook can find or do with the information concerned especially if you also register using an alias as the OP appears to have done with their new e-mail address.

    Wow - really ?

The contact details are not the money spinners ..

It is your "likes", interactions, clicks, "friends", things that they "like" ,places you visit, places you "check in" from etc etc etc etc that is data gold to these g0bsh1tes so they can target ads at you.

Dont forget, you ARE their product

    Yes, really.
You selectively edited my post and left out the most important part of it.

So if you are only using the account to interact with a community website, you have registered with a fake name and you are using both an anonymous email and phone number, I honestly can't see that there is much that FB can do with that info.

We could use a UK sales tax above VAT set at 50% for such companies, so that their sale prices are much higher and they have to reduce prices to compete. For example if a large coffee at Starbucks which is already £3.10 vs £2.75 at Costa, had the 50% TAS (tax avoidance surcharge) the Coffee would be £4.65. When consumers see a TAS charge they can vote with their feet and choose a supplier who does not use aggressive tax avoidance. It also names and shames them.

You do realise, I hope, that if one goes into a "Starbucks" on the high street, it is an independent small business that pays for the franchise rights to use the name, it's not one small part of the global corporate giant? As such, the individual stores are paying their UK taxes just as one would expect any other small business to.

This point seems to have been lost in all the ranting. Penalising the franchisee by forcing their prices to consumers to be way higher than their competition and thereby making them uncompetitive, when the franchisee is already paying the correct UK taxes, is going after completely the wrong target.

    Just a quick question....
Do you have anyone in your family or friends that is already on facebook?

If yes then Facebook probably already HAS your contact details. (The Facebook mobile app links in your your phones contact details and you can access them through the app.)
