Can I leave sky within 30 days without penalty?

Options
We moved sky from our old flat to new, but it turns out the new flat doesn't have a sky dish.

I called to cancel but they said the penalty will be around £200.

Is this correct? I would have thought I could cancel in 30 days?

Very vague post, put some meat on the bone.

Presumably you are still in contract?

Does the flat have a communal satellite dish / system?

Can you not get a dish installed?

Why did you not check before moving?

    Etc.

Extending your agreement (ie taking another minimum term),which is part of a moving agreement, does not usually have a cooling off period, but on negotiating a move, the dish is something you should have agreed on; similar to discussing whether a new line is needed at the new property, in the case of phone.

They will probably prefer to keep you rather than take a leaving penalty (as they have a chance of selling you another product) so ring up and see if you can get some kind of offer for dish installation (which is a one off 'freebie' when you first join).

Sky's home move doesn't trigger a new minimum term unless you make changes to your package as part of the move.

And does it not include an install if required?
OP, the cooling off period is 14 days, not 31-though as mentioned above, this will only apply to a new contract.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
