Inter-rent damage scam

Hi
I've been going to Spain now for a few years, four or five times a year. On this occasion I decided to hire a car and went with Inter-rent who were suggested by Ryanair.
Booking was easy, price was decent and I obtained extra cover separately to ensure I had maximum cover after hearing rumours about problems.
When we picked the car up it was dark but knew I had to check it over. The girl behind the desk directed me to the car park and told to speak to the Inter-rent guy that should be down there. After the guy stood watching me for a while trying to find someone he finally came over. There were a lot of scratches on the car which I videoed and photographed. He completed a document and though that would suffice. Didn't think to check the underneath of the car. I hardly used the car and kept in an underground car park most of the week.
Upon returning the car the guy who checks them over stated I had dinted the car underneath - I know I didn't do this but couldn't contest as had not noticed this when collecting.
Black car - in the dark with a Spanish resistant helper I should have expected issues. The dent was large but old, I took pictures and was told 'its ok, lets do it the friendly way, you are covered on your insurance'.
I wasn't happy but didn't want to miss my flight so went with it and got copies of all documents. I was informed that an invoice for the repair will be sent in the post.
To be honest when I think back now the whole process seemed suspicious and dread the bill coming in as is going to be way above what my insurance covers.
Anyone know how I stand now? The dent wasn't picked up on my original video although I'm going to see if I can get it enhanced. I understand that there maybe no proof that I didn't do this, is there any way I can ensure the work I end up paying for is completed ............ worried for other drivers of this car as I have a feeling the company keep collecting payouts for this but never gets repaired.
Any help gratefully received.

What cover did the car come with and what additional policy did you take out? Usually the car comes with CDW, collision damage waiver, which covers damage to the car.
However there is usually an excess amount to pay, which will be noted on your rental agreement, this varies by rental company. If the extra cover you took out was a CDW excess waiver policy this should cover you for any amount charged.
