    My guess:

The buyer has moved the money by BACS, rather than CHAPS, and the money is more than twice the daily limit their bank places on such payments (meaning they had to split it into 3, and do one transfer on Weds, one yesterday, and one today).

Which could probably have been easily solved by them going into the branch, and now they will need to wait a couple days for the money to clear.

Update from my solicitor they have received the deposit.

But cant exchange contacts there solicitors are now in a meeting and mine finish at 4.30

I think both my EA & Sols think Im completely unreasonable pushing for exchange.

The truth is if the buyers can still pull if they want to between now and tuesday

If you push too hard, your buyers may think there's something wrong with it... does it matter too much if it's a few days later next week?

Exchanging and completing same day is not ideal though.

    Chill!

There was never a guarantee of Exchanging today - or indeed on any day you aim for.

similarly there is never a guarantee of a Completion date - until, that is, you've Exchanged.

Forget Tuesday. Monday is a bank holiday so call email your solcitor over the weekend, and then call first thing Tuesday to check, instructing him to exchange as soon as he can with a Completion date 2 days later.

Agree. I've done it. But meant the same as G_M - do it a couple of days later again.
