  • I'm feeling really down the last few days, found out I didn't get the supervisor job I applied for at work. It's my supervisor's position (who I pretty much trained) so would be the same hours, and the same job really. I've been working there the longest out of all the non supervisors. I know these things don't mean the job should have automatically been mine, but I'd done the job when we had no supervisor and no permanent staff, and I was the person who the bigger boss contacted with any problems when on duty.
It's really bothered me and made me lose so much heart with the job. It's the only job I've had where I've wanted to even think about moving up the ladder as I enjoy working there and get along with everyone. :(

  • So sorry to hear that Bubbly, seems to make no sense, did they say why? Maybe they have better plans for you.
SOA looks good, does entertainment cover Christmas? Can't believe it's not that far away now in terms of paydays.
Thanks for stopping by my diary, I'm really enjoying it just to keep centred and focused.
Chin up and have a great day hun :)

That's really rubbish about the job Bubbly - you're right to feel miffed :(

The £15/month doesn't seem much to cover car maintenance should you have any issues, or would you use emergency fund to pay for these?

That's really pants bubbly. I think I'd be remembering that next time they needed me help though.

Your soa looks very lean to me. How do you manage such a low grocery budget!?
  • Thanks everyone, I'm trying to think positively, it's quite a high turnover rate at work so hopefully I'll get the chance again.

They said my interview was good there was just a high quality of applicants and not to hesitate applying again. Hmm.

Entertainment covers everything in the week which isn't included in the SOA, such as eating out, cinema etc. If I buy clothes or presents I also try to include it in this instead of using the budget pots, which means they add up over time. I also top these up when I get paid extra in my overtime months (very confusing annualised pay!). There's currently £154 in my presents pot.

Christmas can stay out of mind for the moment, I'm much more of a Halloween person! :rotfl:

Again, I'm sometimes able to pay for these things and top up the pot in the month's of overtime. Luckily (without jinxing myself) I haven't had too many car troubles. I was putting in £25pm but have had to cut it down. There's currently £255 in the car maintenance pot. (MOT is due in November) Yes the EF would be raided if necessary.

I did a double shift yesterday, won't be offering to do that again for a while!
It is lean, however I get about another £2000 over the course of the year from overtime as my contract is annualised term time pay, yet the work is all year round.

My grocery budget is kept low by buying supermarket brand food, only doing an online shop once a week, and the fact that I eat at other family member's houses 3 times a week :rotfl:

In all seriousness though, once my OH moves in this will change and will need to increase. My whole SOA will change then, hopefully for the better!
So this SOA is to get me through the next 6 months.

Oh Bubbly, I am sorry about the job, no wonder you were feeling bad, nothing worse that knowing you can do a job, have done the job and it not being recognised. Hopefully next time will be your time!

  • Hi all. My pay has increased slightly again as only a partial increase must have occurred in August so I'll be having a tweak of my SOA.
It's been a busy few weeks here, my Masters has started and it's all systems go, already panicking about the first essay! I've also got two 9 week old kittens :D who are both adorable and being really well behaved, but the feeding 4 times a day has got my routine all messed up. I usually stay at my OH's at least once a week and haven't been able to do that.

Because of the extra pay at the end of September, and the student loan was a little bit extra than the payment, I've got £600 spare which I'm working out what to do with. I'm currently thinking £150 to the holiday fund, £150 to the mortgage, £150 towards my son's birthday and Christmas, and £150 to the kitten fund.

    .

Me too, for me it's the most wonderful time of the year!! Are you doing anything to celebrate/enjoy this year?

I'm debating a small Halloween dinner party with some friends- make Halloween/spooky themed items and do some silly little party bags as gifts after (on a budget though!).
Thinking pumpkin and chilli soup for a starter, something autumnal for dinner and maybe some brownies with torched meringue ghost tips for dessert...shouldn't be expensive but memorable :D
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!
